I do some teaching trips and one of the more popular ones is I teach you how to eliminate water and find the bass. As far as your depth finder...it will alarm when a minnow goes into the cone area if it is working right...best thing to do is turn the alarm off, learn how to find the high percentage spots before you go on the water and learn how to use the depth finder to see you cover, bait fish etc.
