Patti's
There use to be a place there called the Iron Kettle or something like that. To date that was the best food I have ever stuck in my mouth other than my mothers. They served everything out of the ole time iron pots and kettles and it was so good it would make your tongue slap your brain sideways. Their desert there was sinful to, I left there ready to explode a few times.
The Iron Kettle caught on fire last year - They are planning on rebuilding and opening - but I am pretty sure they are still closed - it is a shame, because I loved this place . Patti's or Bill's (same menu, same restaurant) would be the place to eat there. It is dang good. I suggest getting the 2 inch pork chop, but everything I have eaten there has been outstanding - save room for desert there too.
If you are up for a scenic drive, I would go all the way down the trace, and cut over on 68 into aurora, and stop by the Dinner Bell - it is by far my favorite country cookin place around here.
But if you've never been to Patti's I would go just for the experience. Call and make reservations, or get there early - especially on Thursday - Saturday. There can often be 1 1/2 hour wait if you just show up - people flock there.
The Brass Lantern.............by FAR one of my favorites. The Iron Kettle caught on fire last year - They are planning on rebuilding and opening - but I am pretty sure they are still closed - it is a shame, because I loved this place . I have never been to the Brass Lantern - I will have to try that out soon. Buffalo T-bone sounds good.
Patti's is what I was thinking of. I think I screwed up saying US-68. I meant the road that goes over the dam (US 60). Anyway i'll be by the dams - Where is Patti's from there ?
Does it sit just inside of LBL on the trace from the dam road, lol
Where is the Brass Lantern located ????
Brass Lantern is in Aurora close to Ken-lake state park.
Patti's is off of 453 (the LBL road). When going across the dam on 62 it will be just past the dam 453 south - to LBL. Grand rivers will be on the left about a mile or two down that road. You will turn opposite of all the sail boats (you will see them) and there is a grand rivers sign. Pattis will be on your left less than 1/4 mile - there is a parking lot across the street. It really is the best pork chop I have ever had.
Benton and Draffenville have a few good places to eat. Benton has thier big town festival from 4/2 - 4/6, there will be a mob of people down there on the strip in Benton, especially on the 6th (the main day).
I always caught my limit of slabs on "Tater Day"!Brass Lantern is in Aurora close to Ken-lake state park.

Willow pond has awesome all you can eat cake style hush puppies and white beans, Patties 2" pork chop hands down best I have ever eaten people come from miles and miles away for it in fact it has a following much like Lamberts in Sikeston.
Col is right call Miss Patties Settlement for reservations now if you are planning on comming anytime soon, or anytime period.
I gotta try that buffalo T-Bone and or the Prime Rib - Good Lord I'm hungry now
The hot brown at Patti's rocks, but if you get it, ask for the chips on the side, very important to do that. The pork shops are great and the desserts are the best in the area. Boatsinker pie, chess pie, mississippi mud pie...yummmmmmmmmm.
I also recommend the Dinner Bell for the price concious. It is a buffet style restaraunt, great catfish and hushpuppies.
Three Pigs BBQ in Benton is also worth a look.
