my boat is rated for a 175 but its 18 feet and plenty heavy enough for a larger motor.i understand no business will put anything other then a 175 on it but if i put it on can the game warden do anything is it against the law?

so i take it the game warden can ticket me for being oversized ?i have looked all in the regs and i see nothing about oversized motor ,i know you cant fish tourneys with it but just wondering about being fined

Why would you want to take the chance of ruining your transom.If the manufacturer rates it for a certain amount of H.P. than that is what is suppose to be for safety measures.
It is not 'illegal' to use an over-sized engine. If one wants to risk damage to their boat by ignoring manufacturers recommendations it is totally legal to do so. There are no laws against stupidity.
