You didn't say what you were fishing for but I will throw out a thought on a catch all lure. If I only had one lure to fish it would have to be a 1/8 oz curly tail jig. When I take the kids fishing in the spring you can throw one on 6 lb line with light spinning tackle and catch about anything that swims. Mostly we are trying to catch crappie and yellows but we catch pretty much everything with them - bass (mostly small), bluegills, sunfish, redear, drum, and even an occasional catfish. And although you mostly catch small bass I have caught many good-sized bass on small jigs and I have even caught several bass 5+ lbs on these while playing around with them. Another close variation is the same sized road runner - jig with spinner...

I would have to agree with KC about the curly tail jig you just can't beat em'. If you are pond fishing maybe try a beetle spin or a white rooster tail or mepps spinner. In my opinion there is no "catch all" lure but there are some the do out perform others on most situations.
bandit crankbaits........have caught bass, bluegill, crappie on them!
Are you asking for this years newest hottest lure or are you just asking for a springtime lure?Because you will get a list of baits out of this world.Springtime I like crankbaits for locating bass, and when I find I slow down and flip baby brushhogs or jigs.Im also hearing that spinnerbaits are catching a lot of fish this spring.Good luck.
hard to beat a spinnerbait also![]()
Believe it or not. Try a Kastmaster with a bucktail hook. Have caught just about every species on these. Vary the size with the species that your fishing for. Example, 3/4-1 oz. for stripers.
Bass- spinnerbait, jig
crappie- beetle spin, tube jigs
bluegill- can't beat a wax worm
trout- beadhead pheasant tail fly #16
whites- small cranks, silver-white inline spinners
Really, the best lure to throw in the spring is the one they are hitting, lol!
I jus caught a 2 lb bass on a spinnerbait. Its hard to beat a gool old spinnerbait. If i were you thats what i would use.
I have a lot of these lures. Is there any other lures
my favorite pond/small lake bait is the mister twister sassy shad. will catch anything big enough to eat it and the bigger fish will hit it also.
Helecopter lure fished with the Roland Martin's Rocket Rod. Make sure you're using at least 50 pound braid. This bait gets hammered!!!
