    Thumbs up Fishing Report Patoka

Fished Patoka yesterday afternoon. I hunted around a found skinny water at almost 60 deg. By shallow, I mean 1-3 ft. The water had a little color to it. Some baitfish activity with a couple of birds.

The spinnerbait bite was on like Donkey Kong! Several fish were in the 2-4 lb range. A couple were at 5 lbs. And the biggest lg that I have caught to date was 6lbs on the nose! Fish to make a man famous. KVD would have been shaking in his shoes!

Not bad for it being the first day that I have been able to get out this spring. God was smiling at me yesterday.

Way to go Dakota. We were out there tearing the crappies up. Caught between 3 and 4 hundred. Most very small to very small but we had several between 12 and 14 inches too. It was a great day out there with the ospreys back and several eagles hunting over the water.

That sounds about right. A jig would have been the ticket also. Had one tied on, but I just got stuck on a spinnerbait. I should have switched over to a jig or a rattle trap and worked my areas a little differently. I think either one would've worked. A popper might have worked also. The next time I work that area, I will switch up the tactics. I know that there were more fish in that area. You know, it's hard to put down a bait that is catching good fish. Especially a spinnerbait.

    Very nice indeed Dakota Kid!

I couldn't buy a bite on a white/charteuse Strike King Pure Poison, when we were fishing down there Saturday the 21st. I got one shorty on a Texas Rigged Flappin' Hog II, but that was it for me.

My brother in law was getting plenty of shorties on little crankbaits, but no "keepers."

It sounds like you were on 'em alright, and a nice way to start the season indeed!
