Said I would post when I returned so here it goes.....
Overall I would not call it a great trip, maybe I was expecting too much
I believe if the sun would have stayed out for Friday and Saturday it would have been different. Fish were starting to turn on Thursday. Water temps at Ky Lake ranged fron 57-58, Barkley was colder at 55-56 We caught both bass and crappie Wed and Thursday while the sun was shining but that changed Friday and Sat. What was dissapointing about the bass fishing were the keeper fish were hard to find. I caught a 5lber on Wed and a 4lber on Thurs one other boat with us caught a 6lber on wed and these were the only fish above 15 " that we caught out of about 100 bass total. Short fish are EVERYWHERE. My 2 bass were caught on a yellow jerkbait while the 6 lber was caught on a shallow running sexy shad crankbait. All 3 fish were on secondary points, shallow
As far as Crappie fishing goes, they were starting to turn on by Thur afternoon b/c the temp had raised to the upper 58 degrees when the sun was out, we had 15 keepers that afternoon with as many if not more throw backs in the mix but all of that changed once the rain and clouds moved in by Friday. Would somebody start keeping Yellow Bass - they are Everywhere. To sum it up ..... both species are itching to come shallow if the weater would relax and the temps would rise a little. The extended foecast for this week were highs in the middle 60's with mostly sunny skies. Crappie will be on fire next weekend and into that next week if it holds weather wise
