    Angry Plapp's bankruptcy auction (rant)

Bought a family boat at the online auction last week. Went to pick it up and noticed it wasn't on the trailer it was made for - it's pretty obvious when you got two extra feet of bunk board hanging out past the boat. Long story short, did a little digging and another buyer ended up with a boat and my trailer and I ended up with a boat on his trailer. Now both of these boats have 0.0 hours on them so I have no idea how in the world they managed to screw that up? Turns out the other buyer lives 8 hours away so talk about a ****-around... no wonder they went out of business. Sorry for my rant.

That's a drop in the bucket compared to some of the things that went on at that place from what I've heard. Seen talk on here and talked to several people myself that dealt with Plapp's and got a bad deal. Can't do business like that long or you won't be in business. I just hate it for anyone that got caught up in it. Hope you guys get it worked out.

You sure don't have much to worry about. You could be one of the poor guys that bought a boat on consignment and paid for it, but the previous note was never paid and the title was not released so now they have a boat the can't be registered.
Or someone that bought warranty that turns out they don't have it.
With all the shady stuff that is coming out, I wouldn't worry about a trailer that is a little long.

I won a $40 gift certificate to plapp's and thought i was going to go get some lures and they informed me that the gift certificate was only good for snakes and drinks at the register. They didn't even have $40 worth of snacks at the register. The gift certificate was only good for one purchase. So I bought a $40 candy bar and a coke. This was back in the summer last year, i guess it was the beginning of the end for Plapp's.

My father in law bought a "trade-in" Triton from there about a year ago. After telling him everything he wanted to hear and never coming through, he finally got fed up and picked up the boat. Once he got the boat, he was shorted the title. When he threatened them with a lawsuit, they quickly provided a title. I guess they had to pay the loan off before they could give the title to him. GOOD RIDDANCE PLAPP'S!!!!! Doing that kind of business says alot about you as individuals. I'll back that up anyday!

I guess I'll be scratching Plapp's off of my Skeeter Dealer list. It's a shame too, according to their site, they had a black & white ZX190 I had my eye on.

It's a very bad time for boats and RVs, with 30-40% losses in fiberglass sales over last year. That's almost 50%..half people.

Dealers couldn't move '08 boats, let alone bring in '09 boats, or the onslaught of 2010 boats, which were soon to follow, if no one is buying and nothing's moving off the show room floors.

With jobs vanishing, companies cutting expenses left and right, and banks tightening the lending reins, Plapp's won't be the last to go, with or without their "shady" practices, or "oversights", like forgetting to give a new buyer his title.

Time to keep on shopping...Thanks for letting me rant.
