    Re: bass bedding question

I like jerking a suspending jerkbait into their bed. Make sure you dig it into the bottom as you do, and I just let it sit there in their bed for as long as I can stand it depending upon their reaction to it. If that fails, a soft plastic or jig in their bed works really well as a secondary plan.

Never tried snagging them with a jerkbait, if I were going to do that I'd just go ahead and make sure I was wide open illegal lol.

    Re: bass bedding question

If you really are curious and want the best presentation for bedding males the most effective rig is a drop shot with an over sized weight. Keeping the plastic of choice in position with less cast and disturbance of the water over the head of the male. Most guys over look the real gem usually offset in a little deeper water the female she will often be close by if the full or new moon has not passed and even a few days there after you may see her hanging around. I like to pop jigs off the bottom fan casting near the male to try and get reaction strikes from the female. With the drop shot try not to pull the bait out of position simply drop your rod tip and let the line slack and wait dfor the male to come in and out of the bed. Sometimes if you let the bait fall to the bottom a timid bass will come back to its location and become more curious. When it does simply take up the slack and the bait rises several inches in the fishes face. Usually they cant stand then temptation and your lure will suddenly disapear. You can also roll your rod tip clock wise and counter clock wise to move the plastic of choice left or right slightly.
