Just got back from Gunthersville, and man what a lake, that place is huge, we were fishing creeks the size of Nolin lake, its one massive lake, and very very shallow, if you get out of the channel you are in about 2'-4' of water quickly, and it stays that depth forever. Water temperature was about 62-64 degrees everywhere we fished, it rained everyday, and water color was off, and the wind blew everyday. We ended up catching quite a few 3-6lb fish, seemed like every fish you caught was a good one, if it was 15" it was 2lbs easy. All fish were caught very shallow 2' or less, and all were caught on rattletraps ripped out of the hydrilla. One of the guys with us slayed them, he was using a new Rapala clackin rap 08 in the gold color, the fish absolutely killed that bait, we all bought the clackers but he was the only one with the gold color, and he probaly caught 5-1 to us, so if you are going down there make sure to pick up a few of these, because you cannot find them down there, and if you do you will pay $12.00 for one. We fished the goose pond area, just go out and find a flat and start casting and you will catch them. Overall we didnt catch as many as we thought we would, but the weather affected the fishing, and I think we would of done a lot better if the water color was a little better. We also caught a few on watermelon red senko's, and caught a few dragging a rage craw around rip rap. Also heard some people catching them on the red one knocker 75. Great lake, and had a great time, just wished the weather was a little bit better, and I think we would of killed them.
There was a BFL Tournament Saturday when we were there, it took 31lbs to win angler, and 25lbs for co-angler, so there are some massive sacks to be had.
