Send it back to Shimano, or call customer support first. I think there is a recall on it and you may get a new Cardiff to replace it.Seriously.....

I'm not totally for sure. I would check into it though. Go to www.shimano.com and click on North America or United States. Then find the phone number for customer support and check with them. Let me know how it comes out for you.........
