Can anyone get on this Lake Ellerslie? Is it private? Can you take a boat? Where is it located in Lexington.
you got to have a membership to get on this lake, i hear it takes years to get in, and it is 50 dollars a month, 600 a year, and it is right across from jacobson park, id like to know more about this lake as well, ive always wondered about it
It's $150 per year after the first year. The first year is your biggest hit but you save that in gas.
Where you live DJD? bout to get my name up the list one...LMAO....seriously, how does one get on the list? Im not going anywhere, may as well get in line![]()
I live about 5 minutes from the lake. We got in by finding a few guys who could sponsor us. The trick was finding a few who haven't used or promised their (2) a year sponsor quota. Most guys end up with family, extended family, close friends, fishing buddies, friends friends and others using their quotas up for years.
We usually have our (2) spoken for the year before!
Hey Don can you tell me where I'm at on the list?
I would cut somebody to get on that list![]()
Was out there Saturday afternoon with my son. We were goofing off more than fishing (that's kind of what happens with a 4 yr old...). Anyway, there 2 guys putting their boat on the trailer and I asked how they did. They said they caught a few bass up to 4 pounds on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. Then they told me they caught a monster hybrid. They proceeded to pull out a digital camera and show me some pics. WOW!!!! This fish looked to be 14" tall and they said it was 5-6" across the belly. I would bet my next paycheck it was every bit of 12 pounds if not bigger!
Jabbo has always told me there are hybrids in there but I've never believed him. I guess he's not that big of a liar after all.
We were out there as well. We only caught 7 but three were over 16". One of which was closer to 18" the rest were small. I wish I would have went out Sunday. Was out there Saturday afternoon with my son. We were goofing off more than fishing (that's kind of what happens with a 4 yr old...). Funny thing happened....we were fishing the second cove on the right and a Security guard calls some fellas over to the bank and asks why they are fishing the lake? They tell him in disbelief that it's a private lake and that they are members and even showed the BRIGHT badges that we wear.
He didn't believe them so they called us over to let the guy hear own side of the story. Of course we told him they same story and showed our badges but the guy wasn't 100% convinced so he was trying to call his boss to find out what to do.
Finally he realized that four guys with badges and several other boats on the water must be telling the truth. The fella was probably new and we took the high road with him by praising his efforts because I could tell he was starting to feel kinda dumb.
Yeah my buddy caught several good ones last year about this time on rattletraps. I have never caught one out there but I would love it!
You may have been better off not going Sunday. Jon went and said the wind was rough on him. He caught a few short fish. I think his biggest was 14".

I was there about 15 min and caught a 3-13, fifteen minutes later I caught a 2-15, after these I stopped weighing them. I caught another about 3.5-4 lbs and lost one at the boat over 5#, I caught a couple more in the 2-3 lb range
and a single crappie. Wasn't bad for 2.5 hours on the water.
I wish I landed the bigger one but it was fun none the less!! I had my wife with me which makes it special too.

To answer some of the other questions asked about this lake.
Yes it is lake Ellerslie, It is Private but can be fished with a member for a fee.
I waited for a little over 10 years to join. A person has to be sponsored by two members to get their name on the list, After this it is a waiting game.
Big initial fee but like Don said 150 a year after that. When the fishing is hot it's hot. I know SmlJaw DJD and I caught oodles over 4 lbs last year and I had one over 7#. If any of you guys want to fish it, better get on the list now or befriend one of these guys
