    Lake Barkley

We went to Little River area yesterday, didn't catch the first fish until almost 11:00am, started at 7:00am. The water was so muddy that we needed a 4x4 to pull the boat through it. So if you are going beware.

Did you try any channels banks/points in creeks and fish out deep with a jig/tube/worm??

We experienced the same thing last year and caught alot of small ones up shallow, but when we went deeper on these type of areas, we started catching alot bigger fish and very few numbers.

    N. Barkley was fishable yesterday...stained but fishable. Elwood was up there on Friday and called me right after he had lost the biggest bass he has ever had on at one of my trophy spots. Another fellow I know took big bass in the BFL on the same spot yesterday.

I was not up there today nor do I have any reports on N. Barkley for today as of yet.

Elwood was in a cove on North Barkley, and you could hear him yelling ALL the way over in Sugar Creek..............He was HOT.

We had a GREAT time fishing, and again I hooked up with Elwood for the week..........Man, can that boy FISH.............has us down by 20 fish by noon. We finally caught a few fish, and managed a respectable showing, but Woody and Mike doubled us up.........

    Again, a GREAT weekend.

    Later,

    Geo

    Re: Lake Barkley

Fished North Barkley several days last week (before the cold front). Had mixed success. Caught a lot of short fish with several 15-16 inchers mixed in. Best fish of the trip was 8lb 1oz largemouth. Caught on a bandit crankbait in about two foot of very stained water. Bloody tail and looked ready to drop her eggs. I had caught several over 7lbs, but that was my first over 8. As excited as I was about that one, I think I was more excited when my son caught a 3 1/2 lb largemouth on his little Zebco rod/reel (fishing with a Crappie jig). The excitement and look on his face was something I will remember for a long time. It was great.

Caught Bass on virtually everything i tried. Red eye shad, Bandit crankbaits, SpinnerBait and Watermelon/Chart lizards. All in all it was a great trip for the first time on Barkley this year. Can't wait to get back. Good luck all.
