Well thats the bad news. it *****. Their are pro and cons, but on a large body of water when the wind gets up, it's tough. Thats when a glass boat is very nice.Hey i have a smokercraft and it a real good all around boat. Another thing do any of you on hear have a aluminum bass boat and run on place like dale, ky, barkley, cumberland esp. when the wind gets bad how are they. Im fixen to trade boats and i like the g3 and xpress boat but i just dont know any one who has one and ran on big watter. thanks.
My 2006 tracker does not have wooden decks.
AND my 1995, while it had wooden decks.......they Never Rotted, and are warranted for the LIFE of the boat, and that particular part of the warranty is transferrable.

I have a 2006 19 ft Tracker with a 90 HP optimax........Hey i have a smokercraft and it a real good all around boat. I love the boat, and have been able to fish in SERIOUS wind on all those lakes. You have to be careful.......just like in a glass boat, and I do get a little wet, especially on KY or DALE when it is really blowing, but I've fished KY, Dale, Cumberland, etc, etc..........All with the wind blowing and big waves.
Nothing CRAZY, but I was out during the last two monster storms at KY. Not on the MAIN lake, but out in 30 mph winds in some of the coves.
My boat is NOTHING like a glass boat, but it works just fine........BUT there are times you will NOT be able to fish KY or Dale, or Cumberland........

I had an Xpress and it was a real nice boat. A very well built boat.
Try Xpress no wood in them. You can't hang them up on a stump
I have a Skeeter SX 17. This is an aluminum boat that G3 made for Skeeter in 1999 and 2000. This boat is identical to the G3 Eagle 175. It has been a great boat and I have had it on all of the big lakes. It handles the big water pretty well, but as the others said, not like a glass boat. However, there has never been a day that I couldn't get out on one of the big lakes because of the size of my boat. The ride is dry unless you are in big waves with a lot of wind, and even then I don't usually get wet. This boat does have wooden decks, but mine is 9 years old and I have had zero problems with the deck. I do keep my boat garaged in the summer and outside, but well covered in the winter. The decks on my boat are about 6 inches longer than the new Eagle 175 and I can lay a 7 foot rod on the deck without it hanging over. I just upgraded my boat this year from a Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke to a Yamaha 75hp 4 stroke and it was well worth the investment. My boat now gets about 41mhp vs. the 28-30mph I used to get and more importantly it now rides higher and handles the waves better and doesnt come off plane from big waves. In 2000 a 75hp was the maximum hp for this boat, but it is now rated for a 90. I would suggest that you max the hp, as the benefits are well worth the extra money. Over all, I have had zero problems with the boat and everything still works, including the dash lights and running lights which never seem to last on boats. The boat has been very easy to maintain and has been a great fishing boat for the money. The G3 trailers do tend to rust around the wheel wells over time, as do most trailers. I fixed this by grinding the rust away, sealed it with a rust converting paint and then finished them with the truck bed liner "Herculiner". I did this two years ago and so far the rust has not come back. I would buy another G3 in a heartbeat, but I would buy the Eagle 190 as this boat is 188 and has an 85 beam and a max of 150hp where mine is 175 and has a 72 beam and a max of 75hp. I hope this helps you with your decision. Good luck!
