My guess is you need to change colors. If still happens try more erratic retrieve. My 2 cents

Lets see who can help me with this one. What can you do differently when bass just follow a spinnerbait, crankbait, or fluke to the boat but they won't eat it? I've had this happen several times last week. Is it the full moon? I know muskie like the figure 8 trick but bass (these anyway) are a little more easily spooked.
Besides go to a different lake, what do I do?

Try different colors but more importantly is SPEED UP. When they are doing that speed it up bigtime. What's happening is they are intrigued by your offer and they kinda want it but they are getting to good of look at it and know something isn't right. Speed it up and you'll get more reaction bites.
I'll bet you were in clear water somewhere to right??
Exactly what I have been told, change color, or speed up, fish getting too good of a look at your bait.Try different colors but more importantly is SPEED UP. Change your retrieve.
Follow up with a senko.
With either the spinnerbait or fluke you can also try killing. With the fluke it will start a slow fall and usually they will just stop and stare at it. Then give it a few quick jerks and that's usually when they'll react to it. With the spinnerbait just stop it for a split second and the skirt will flare, you'll get a lot of reaction bites when you flare the skirt too. It is a VERY rare occasion when you want to just cast and reel a spinnerbait(slow rolling mainly). Your catch rate will sky rocket if you give it your own action.
I've always heard that changing colors or just stopping your lure dead would remedy this problem. hope it works for ya.
If I see 2 fish follow my bait it's stop and go the rest of the day. Has never failed me yet.
I agree with Wormin, stop and go on the retrieve. Sometimes they want you to speed it up, but I have found that if you see a fish following your bait to the boat, stop and let it drop - sometimes they'll hit it this way. Like Wormin said before, on your next cast try cranking the bait and stopping it. Repeat this several times before your lure gets back to the boat.

We just had this happen Saturday while throwing crankbaits. All I did was throw it right back at the same ledge and pulled the old stop and go and he hit it about the same spot he went down the first time. Maybe it was blind luck?
If your throwing a crankbait in clear water, go with a natural color. Throw it out and burn it back to the boat giving it a few hard jerks on its way back to make the bait change directions.
The fish's natural instinct kicks in, the bass has no choice but to wack your bait as it fly's by. I just started doing the last year with a 6:4.1 reel.
Works Great!
Follow up with a bright colored trick worm or senko. Fall & twitch.
