    Ohio river creeks

Where is a good place to fish Ohio River Creeks near Louisville? I have a 17ft Bass Tracker and wanted to head down by Yellowbank or in that area. Do you guys know of any ramps or good bank fishing creeks? Thanks

My dad and I fish Yellowbank creek, you can do pretty good up it. I haven't fished it yet this year, but dad fished it on 4/2/09 he caught a few crappie at 11" and a 14" Lm. You might keep in mind that it takes Yellowbank a little longer to warm than a few other creeks. We also like to fish Sinking creek, there is no public ramp but it isn't far down river from Yellowbank. You have Town creek on down from there, I haven't fished it but have been meaning to. I have heard that it is real good when the bluegill are spawning careful though because it is a little shallow in spots I hear. Then you have Clover and Tar creeks, these are good creeks to fish. We have caught some nice crappie in both, there are also nice bass there. Tar creek empties into Clover creek and Clover creek empties into the river ( hope that makes sense). Basicaly when you ramp out if you head to the right from the ramp you go to Tar and if you go left you go to Clover. These are both good creeks to fish. There are also some good creeks on the Indiana side Oil, Poison, Deer and others. Check out google maps and look at the terrain version you see all the ones I have mentioned, then look at them in satelite mood once you have figured out which is which.

If you go to Clover or Tar be extremely careful, both creeks have numerous stumps, above and below the water level.

Blue River or Indian Creek. I think both of them are just across the Ohio on the Indiana Side.

Indian creek is about 8 or 9 miles down river from the Brandenburg bridge and Blue is about another 6 or 8 from there. Your best bet to fish them would be from Brandenburg. I have fished Indian and caught a couple decent spoted bass there, haven't fished Blue.

The closest public ramp to Yellowbank for your size boat is in Spring Creek at Concordia, KY. The Wolfcreek boat ramp is a gravel parking lot with a small concrete boat ramp, it ramps directly into the main river at the mouth of Wolf Creek itself. From that ramp you can access only one other creek without making a long run and that creek is approximately 2 miles downriver on the Indian side called Little Blue. At the Concordia ramp you will launch safely in the creek itself then proceed out to main river, there is also some good fishing in Spring Creek itself. From Spring Creek downriver the first creek you come to on the Indiana side is Oil Creek (5 miles), the mouth is nestled in the outside bend of the first left hand bend, this creek is very long with alot of stumps and is well known for excellent crappie and bass fishing. As you go downriver Yellowbank will be 4 miles further and right across from that is Poison Creek in Indiana. If you don't have a river map go to the Louisville Corp of Engineers web page and download pages of the rivers navigational maps. Also go to Mapquest and get directions to Concordia, KY. Same route as mentioned above for Wolfcreek except don't turn on 228 keep going straight. Happy fishing.

How far up Yellowbank creek can you go from the ramp? I have often thought about putting a canoe in and going upstream to check out some bowhunting spots.
