Re: Follow me (The lighter side of fishing)

Sorry pc mess up. Ok so a couple years ago on Kentucky lake I was fishin out torward the middle of blood. It was a slow day but was catchin fish. There were alot of drift fishers that day. Well after catchin one another "out of state" boat saw me and stopped to chat. I enjoy chattin with other boaters and dont mind Its the line of work I do anyway with the NPS. anyway they caught a fish then they picked up a 2way radio I couldnt make out what he was saying but within 20min there where 6 other boats around me lol they were so close that we had to keep pushing the boats apart. Well I told dad lets go somehwhere else so I told them to have a great day and left. I ran up the lake some and within about another 20min they were all there again they followed us for 3 days lol Now I know DAVE probably has this problem but I never had but I was polite and just laughed the fish wernt bitin anyway and Dad and I thought it was funny wondering every time we stopped to fish how long it would be before they showed up
Anyone else have some funny stories they would like to share....

I like when it's slow and you see another fisherman try to sneak their fish into the boat, lol. It cracks me up. Like I'm going to run over and steal their spot, catch all their fish. My grandpa, who taught me how to fish, was the master. You never knew when he had a fish on. He would catch his limit before you even knew he had a bite and that's fishing in the same boat, lol. Would have been great at poker. At the ramp, if anyone asked how he did, he would say he slayed 'em and then and send the poor fella on a wild goose chase. If you ever saw "Grumpy old Men", that was him, rest his sole. I'm proud of the fish I catch and will share information, but I don't want a whole clan following me around the lake either!

thats funny My dad would tell them some off the wall fishing bait he was using and they would believe him Like butterfly hearts or something like that. It was just funny how they followed us. I seen there boat again last year but guess I wasnt good enough to follow anymore they must have found someone better. Kinda hurt my feelings

I never understood fisherman who did that "silent" catch technique. I understand the premise behind it, not letting everyone in on the fact that you are catching fish...but, I can't help but get excited and verbalize it when I hook into a good fish. I used to fish with a guy that was like that. I would have to look back at him just to see if he was still alive! And more times than not, he would not only be alive, but have a nice fish on! And most the time, there was no one around! WEIRD!!! Fishing is supposed to be fun, so I say....ENJOY EVERY CATCH! (it may be your last?).

Re: Follow me (The lighter side of fishing)

I was fishing a club tourny on the St. Johns river in Florida and I was on some nice fish flippin mats in the bends of the river. Well I found these fish while prefishin and I had my buddy with me who also fished the club but as a nonboater. I told him not to say anything about my pattern and of course he agreed.

Come tourny day he is paired with the club President who is a very wealthy man that did have an attitiude of confidence (being nice). So I'm working my pattern and doing great and I come around to the next bend to hit my spot and who do I see? Yep the old Pres and my buddy fishing the mat I was going to hit. My first thought was that my buddy did me wrong but then I thought hey he found the fish too.

So I idle by and say hello but ole' Pres won't look at me and my buddy silently says sorry and shrugs his shoulders so I know I had been done wrong. I stopped to fish close by waiting for them to leave and also to make them uncomfortable (it's the least I could do). Well several boats come by as we are working these mats and ole' pres is up on his deck really getting into flippin' but not paying attention to the waves and as they hit his boat he lauches himself into the funky mats of pads and decaying weeds! It's so funny I about messed myself.... I laughed so hard and loud you would have thought Mike Iaconelli was around! He was hanging on trying his best to get in the boat and my buddy was trying to help but the waves were beating them up...he finally got in and I yelled that he was cheating by leaving his boat just to piss him off!

He cleaned himself off and left with my buddy laughing the whole way as he sat next to him! Good thing is I won big bass and second place and had a heck of a story to tell at weigh in! He never lived it down....Good old Karma!
