kincaid report 18'6" rule ???

Along these lines, I find it interesting that if you go to the dept's website and go to the part about "where to boat", searching for all places with "any boat" will bring up all the lakes mentioned. If you click on one of the lakes like Kincaid, it says on here, [COLOR=Black]"Any trailerable recreational boat". So on their own website, they don't tell you there's restrictions.[/COLOR]

go to web site- go to enforcement, season, ans laws- go to fish and wildlife related laws- go to administrative regulations there u will find all the laws but they really need to post it at the lake or on the web page were u view the lake were to boat the section were u went

I have fished Kincaid since 1976 from a rented john boat then to a 19'6" Ranger now. I have never been checked nor have I ever been concerned. It is a shame that I can no longer fish that lake since I live 15 minutes away from the ramp. The 18'6" law is a joke and needs to be updated/changed. When that law was established an 18'6" boat was a large boat. Not now, and what difference does it make anyway? The 10HP limit has always been a sore spot but at least I could still fish with my trolling motor. Get real..........the size of a bass boat means nothing and if a lake has an idle only law it is safer and causes less bank errosion that any HP limit. End of story!

One of the things I do rem hearing and why I think the law is in effect was to keep the big big boats off. If you rem there is alot of private land around this lake and at one time I know there was a group that was trying to put house boat rentals on it due to its close location to cinti.
I do strongly agree that at the time this law was wrote an 18'6" boat was big we all rem when we stepped up to an 18' bass boat now im in a 201 Stratus which most of us now have 20' boats so I do agree there could be a way to rewrite the law to let us use the bigger boats
as for the 10hp you guys know what will happen if they make it an idol only lake I do know some of the lake residents have argued for a lift so they could have jet skis on that lake But I also agree an idol only would do less damage than a 10hp lake but I would bet the fishin pressure would almost dbl

You are totally correct regarding fishing pressure.........had not thought of that one. Good point. That lake gets pounded pretty hard as it is. I still say I can live with 10HP limit as long as I can dunk my boat at 19'6".

I'm thinking on a lake that small it's probably a good rule and there for a reason - just like length, creel and slot limits are in place for reasons.

The problem with the law is it singles out that pontoons are okay up to 20 or 22 feet. But bass boats are restricted to 18'6". A 20' pontoon with a 9.9 will put out big set of waves. My 21' Astro will put out next to nothing with the trolling motor on high.

Hopefully this is over. They are putting an amendment up for vote to change this outdated law to allow larger bass boats.
