truck and trailer sink at Cedar Creek

Unfortunate that a dad (62) and his son (26) sunk their 2004 SUV and the boat at the ramp at CR.

Appearently the dad forgot he was in reverse and punched the gas to jerk the boat out of water and instead pulled the boat under along with backing the SUV right down the ramp and into the drink. Thankfully no one was hurt.

You can read the article at amnews.com. I really feel for them...everybody makes mistakes, but that was a really costly one.

Re: truck and trailer sink at Cedar Creek

I almost lost my truck a few years ago.............I was in a hurry and got STUPID.

I was by myself, and was in a hurry to get on the water.........We've all been there

When unloading by myself, I usually use a rope tied to the truck and the boat.......back down, hit the breaks, put on the parking brake, put it in park, and slide the boat off, pull the truck up a little.......and then catch the boat before the boat starts floating back towards the ramp.

Well, on this certain day.......I did all those things...........Slammed on the breaks........threw it into PARK......jumped out of the truck to catch the boat.......

I was NOT in PARK........I hit reverse instead, and to make matters worse, in my haste, I didn't touch the parking brake.......THIS was the FIRST time EVER not using the brake.

Before I realized what I had done, the truck is passing me up on the ramp. Fortunately, I think the door was open, and I JUMPED into the cab and slammed the BRAKES on just as the front wheels were hitting the water.

The truck was full of water, the rope on the boat snapped, and my **** boat was floating in the MIDDLE of patoka lake...........

AND the two locals up on top of the hill were laughing their ASS off.............

It took me FOREVER to get the truck up the ramp. With it being full or water it was really **** heavy.

Once I got the truck out of the water........I stripped down to my shorts, and went swimming after the boat.......docked the boat, and then put my cloths on and went out to SLAY the bass.......one of the best days I've had.

Ruined my 2000 dollar stereo amps.......they were SUBMERGED..........had to get my rear end diff rebuilt.........HAD to pull the seats and floor liner out..........UGLY.

    Later,

    Geo

I seen the same thing happen at brookville lake in Indiana last fall. Entire truck and boat sunk to the bottom of the boat ramp, fire dept dive team came out, the whole nine yards. Everybody was okay though. Their was some moss on the ramp and it was very slick, i had to put it in 4wheel drive low to get out.
