    The one i had was cut from a forked limb. It had strips of rubber cut from an old car inner tube and an old shoe tongue. Used rocks and marbles. I killed lots of birds with it

    I had a forked limb sling-shot too, but the rubber didn't stretch back as far as the one in the video...it's long gone now though. My uncle made it when I was a kid and I always wondered what wood he used to carve it from...but it looked exactly like the one's this guy had in his box, so I guess it was dogwood. My uncle also used to carve out his own wooden top water plugs too. Great video clip, glad you shared it with us.

    Yep -i made one for my son and he looked at me like I was a prehistoric caveman, he ran off and started playing with his paintball gun!!!!

    My Grandpa called them "Gumbos" and apparently was quite the little terror with them as a kid...he said he got in trouble for taking it to school with him (one-room schoolhouse) and shooting a blackbird that had landed on the windowsill with it. Killed the bird, broke the glass. lol
