white bass on dix river

hey guys just wondering if the whites have started running on dix river now? I know this weather has been tough on them (70 degrees one day and then high of 40 the next, not to mention the rain. I've seen lots of vehicles parked down by the bridge on 52 the last few days so i'm assuming their in full swing.

yes...i moved to lincoln county a while back and i would love to find out where to fish it.

A buddy of mine lives next to Dix and said it was on fire till the rain came and muddied the river. I'd wait a few days till the water goes back down before I went. The water level/color is the key.

I put in at Bryants yesterday. I saw lots of boats head up the river. Also saw lots of boats trolling. I fished for crappie. Caught 5 nice ones...the bite was very slow...caught them on minnow about 5-6 feet deep over submerged tree...I also caught a couple of nice bass on minnows...one went a 2.5 pounds and looked like it's belly was ready to bust open...definately had a bunch of eggs...the other one was a real hawg, I got it to the top of the water looked like a 6-7 pounder, but that when it made my fiberglass cane pole into a piece of trash...I would have liked to get my hands on it. I fished from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. I talked to alot of anglers and the story was the same with all of them....not much luck at all...most of them said they only managed a few fish all day. The water is up, but looks great. There was quite a lot of debris floating, but all in all it wasn't bad at all. When I got to the ramp at 7:30, there was some big logs on the ramp and that made unloading interesting. There was only two others parked on the ramp. Went by the ramp at noon and all the debris was gone on the ramp and there must have been 20-30 vehicles in the lot. The water temp was 60.5 in the morning and 63 in the afternoon. I hope the weather stabilizes soon. I'm sure that would make the fish really turn on, but with the rain for the next 3 days and a temp drop of 15 degrees...who knows what the fish will do. Pleasure boaters were already out, along with a couple of personal watercraft, but it sure beats the crowd at Cedar Creek that I experienced a couple of weeks ago...plus the five crappie I caught would weigh more than a limit of Cedar Creek crappie.

Like MSD, I put in at Bryants and went up the river towards Rankins Bottom. Tried crappie first- no takers. Trolled for whites and caught probably 25 fish kept 9 good sized ones. Had a bonus fish also, 7lb hybrid!! Thought I was hung up until she started fighting back. Some of the female whites are starting to show up now. With the forecast for more rain in the next few days, it may turn tough again.
