    Re: Monroe

Our club was down there on Sunday. Our winner had 4 for 12.7 and culled once (we have a 4 fish limit). Second place had 3 fish for right at 7. It went down hill from there. Many people weighed one or two small fish, big fish was only 3.99. Water on the slow side was right at 60 in spots.

    Re: Monroe

Do you want to divulge any info on how they were caught??? We caught our one keeper Sat. on the fastside.....shallow on a lipless crank. However, we fished about every way we knew how. Thanks!

I didn't get a lot of info. All I heard was fishing slow on the fast side. Weather is really going to change before this weekend so I don't know what bite will be there this weekend.

I'm headed to Monroe this weekend...We'll most likely fish the fastside. I'll let you guys know how we do. Skeeter I doubt the bass will be spawning by then...but I guess you never know. If you're looking for that bite start on the slowside if the water isn't too muddy. Good luck!

I fished the slow side and had the worst fishing day that I've had in several years. Fished from 12:30 to 7:00 and never got a strike. Not a bump, fished spinnerbaits, rattletraps, and flipped brush. NOTHING! Saw carp and thats it.

We all know how much fun that is....nut much! Hopefully this warm spell will help. We saw a ton of carp up rolling in the flooded buckbrush also....kinda funny to watch!

    Re: Monroe

I fished there yesterday and had one small fish. Water temps were 55 degree's. I fished up in Saddle Creek didn't get a bite there. That might be a good bite when the water get's warmer. Any other reports?

    Re: Monroe

I've got a monroe lake question. last fall i fished the fast side of the lake with enough luck to get me to stay over that way. while slow retreiving plastic worms, I had enough bite-offs to make me want to throw leaders on...any clues or suggestions? walleye? pike/musky? or am I doing something way wrong? I'm still teaching myself the art of plastics and would be curious what the experts say. Thanks. I use spinning rod/reels with 8-10 lb mono. and retie if find my line frayed.

could be gar, if they have them in there. i know down here in southern indiana i get gar to bite all the time on soft plastics, especially when i'm swimming them slow.

    Re: Monroe

It could be walleye.....pike are few and far between anymore. You might try a light Flourocarbon line (10 lb. test still has a small diameter) it is a little more durable and has good sensitivity. Good luck!

    Re: Monroe

I would love to tell you guys that everyone struggled like me at Monroe, but we had some teams find them. We had a team with 6 fish that weighed over 20lbs. Second had a one over 5 and 4 others. I managed to get 1 15 incher. Did get a good sun tan?!
