April had us expecting some big bass and big sacks to be brought to the scales. After a beautiful, sunny spring day, Green River Lake did not dissapoint. Today the records for largest winning weight and biggest bass weighed in were both broken. Seventeen teams left the ramp at safe light, just after 6:30 AM. Sixteen of those teams weighed in fish. Eleven found a five fish limit.

The winning team of Buddy Ford and Steve Erickson weighed a huge 22.52 pound limit. All five of their largemouth were over four pounds. They culled through two limits of fish caught on a chartreuse spinnerbait fished on main lake bluff and broken rock walls. After a slow start, they got on fish mid morning and kept catching them until heading to the ramp. This weight shattered the current division total weight record.

The second place team of Bruce Morgan and Clint Cone were right on the winners' heels with a 21.79 pound limit of largemouth. They culled through more than three limits of fish, most of which were 3 to 3.5 pounds. They were fishing the same pattern as the winners.

The big bass for the tournament was a monster 8.19 pound largemouth caught by Samuel Boles and Jason Disney. This marks the second time this season that the division big bass record has been broken.Clearly is is a great spring to be fishing Green River Lake.

Our next event will be on May 30th. Usually after May the monster bass seem to disappear, but after the way this spring has gone it wouldn't be shocking to see another big weigh in. The water will be clearer and warmer, but the fishing should still be good. We hope to see everyone there!

went by this area yesterday afternoon and looks like others had the same idea of this secret spot. these winners that posted there info on here, they didnt use the pm feature.hummmmmm,i wonder if any of the boats i seen in this(corbins bend) area used clints info to go fish this area.i may look foolish, but i wonder how on fire green was before clint posted this sunday for some of the guys..

this is not the only good spot,i hear of a 7 1/2 pounder coming from there this morning from a totally different area of lake.the guy that caught it dont have internet access to get info for tournament results.
I share complete details whenever I know them. For us, the lake will be a different beast the next time I see it and this report will be long forgotten. I don't think it is so much a spot as a basic pattern. I mean, I narrowed down the area to what... 3 miles of lake. (FYI We were on the other side of the lake from Corbin's bend, and back a little towards Ramp 1) I say good luck to anyone who wants to go have some fun. I would expect the fish to be heading to the beds, but they sure weren't there last weekend.

As for wondering if the lake was on fire before that report... Absolutely! It took 21 pounds to win a 40 boat open the weekend before we were there. Our first tournament this year was March 28th, and we had some big sacks for that one too (only 17.61 to win that one, but took 15+ to get a check). On March 28th, I caught my personal best bass ever at 7.99 pounds from a completely different area of the lake. For the last few years, Green has been great in March and April. But the bigguns seem to disappear after mid May. We'll still have half the field weighing in a limit, but those 4+ pounders get much harder to find. So, if its still on fire, my advice would be to get there while the big ones are still on.
