I don't think you can. The mounting brackets are totally different as are the heads of the units. The foot controlled units have gears in the head to steer it.

I have a minn kota trolling motor, one you control by the handle...My questions is can I convert this trolling motor to a foot pedal instead of the handle? I wouldn't think that I could, but I thought I would at least ask...Thanks for any help...

Too bad its a Minn-Kota. I have a pretty new foot controled Motorguide that has electical problems. I could have converted it if I had all the stuff.
Anyone out there got one with a broken shaft or a bad motor? Or does anyone want to buy the 74# tour edition that I have? Everything is good with it except it no speed control, only high. I also used the pull cord on the one I have on my boat now and I don't know what I done with the handle.
I also have a 80# Maxum/Minn Kota that I will sell. It has the built in transducer.
How much for the motor guide and where are you?
