First, let me say thanks to Dave and Elnut for answering my questions on the flowers!!
Had battery (TM) trouble, and only got to fish for about 4 hours, and of course some of that was working on the trolling motor, before determining it was the batteries...LOL and of course some run time.
The lake was at least a foot over summer pool, and rose about 2 inches in the 4 hours from launch to take out.
Water was 60.5 degrees in the back of Kutawa harbor, in the 59 - 60 range on main lake, and just inside the bays.
We caught 7 very nice ones, and lost one or two. All the fish came on soft plastics, creature baits. They came from relatively shallow water -- 5 feet to 10 feet -- and rocky cover. I had two violent strikes on my crankbait, but they were only violent... they both knocked the bait about two feet closer to me, but no hook up. The fish were obviously just trying to kill the bait.
Most of the water we found was stained, 2 feet visability at most. In the back of Poplar Creek the water was very dark, but very clear. In fact, I did not get to wipe down my boat, or wash it this afternoon, and the hull still looks very, very clean.
Sun was shining at launch, then a breeze and clouds came in with some areas getting rain. None on us though... and I am thankful. Water didn't really warm much in the short time we were out.
I hope this brief report will help some folks out.
Thanks again for the help Dave and Elnut
