You know, this Hog Herpes or whatever we're calling it today is actually affecting some people's business. I went to lunch at Corky's BBQ today. Seriously. Walked in at Noon and there was nobody there. Me and my buddy sat down, ordered up a helpin of pork BBQ, and discussed some business. We were BS'ing with the manager and he said that the last couple of days his business has been dead - very few people - way noticably slower than it had been. He's chalking it up to the Swine Heebie Jeebies.
Pretty soon, Al Purnell and that dude from Scottsville that owns Clifty Farms are going to have to tag-team and make a run to capitol hill in a Prius that runs on bacon grease to request some bailout money. Request a little pork spending, if you know what I mean. [insert rimshot] Hopefully they won't get mobbed by an angry crowd of panic-stricken citizens and be torn to bacon bits.
I've actually ran across people that are buying into this pandemic pretty hardcore. I hope I'm not proven wrong, but I just don't see that it's a big deal yet. I hear that way back when in 1918 when it flared up, it was small at first, then mutated and came back as a strain that killed a whole bunch of folks later. I don't know. I sure hope that it doesn't. If it does, I'm sure my joking about it has secured my front row ticket and back stage pass to the swine flu show.
Oh well. I gotta go wash my hands...might even use a little extra Irish Spring in the shower tomorrow.
