I do love the UFC now. I wish Chuck could get back but I think age has now become a factor. I'd give a hundred dollars to see him bust a bone in Quinten Rampage's face on a knock out.Man I can't watch boxing anymore without expecting someone to do a Superman Punch, a take down, passing guard and some ground and pound with vicious elbows to dominate the guy into submission! Blood, blood blood broken arms and noses!!! The Mixed Martial Arts has ruined me on boxing.
Yeah those Heavyweights and Light Heavyweights look like giants but my favorite are the lightweights. They move so fast! I love it and watch it everytime it's on. I always catch the Ultimate Fighter on Wednesday nights. I love the theme song and wish I could find it to load it on my IPOD.
Yea I like all the weight classes, and really like the middle weight guys like Matt Hughes, that is one bad dude. I bet he would kick the crap out of almost 90% of normal guys three time his size. Man he's tough for sure!Yeah those Heavyweights and Light Heavyweights look like giants but my favorite are the lightweights. They move so fast! I love it and watch it everytime it's on. And what about BJ Penn the guy doesn't look tough at all, but man is he ever, wow.
Don and Mark, I love the UFC too. The baddest guy yet is Anderson Silva. Yesterday I watched the old fight where he took the belt from Rich Franklin in the first round. Got his hands around Rich's head and rendered him unconcious with a vicious barage of knees. It was hard to watch. Dude has a freakishly long body, and uses it as whatever weapon is necessary to overcome his opponent in a violent fashion. I think his next fight is a rematch with Forest Griffin this summer. I like Forest a ton, and hope I'm wrong, but the best he'll do is maybe give the spider a good fight.

Forest is insane, of course you need to be a little crazy to do what these guys do but a story Forest told has always stuck out in my mind.
When he was a kid he wanted to be able to palm a basketball and his hands were just not big enough so he started cutting the webbing between his fingers to try and make it work. OUCH!!!!!!!!!
Never heard if it actually worked or not but that is one crazy experiment .
Man if he really did that to the degree I'm thinking then he is troubled for sure!Forest is insane, of course you need to be a little crazy to do what these guys do but a story Forest told has always stuck out in my mind.

Jim,
Your right Anderson Silva is one tough cookie. That Muay Thai Clinch in a taller longer body is deadly. Who can beat this guy? I watched that Franklin/Silva fight again yesterday as well and Franklin had a look of confusion in his eyes after the knees to the body and a few to the face.
Ouch would be correct, but those guys march to a different tune.Forest is insane, of course you need to be a little crazy to do what these guys do but a story Forest told has always stuck out in my mind.

My wife was doing some paperwork in the LR last night when I came in and turned on the Fisher/Stone fight. It was a stand up slugfest start to finish, and an excellent contest.
Wife after round one: "That's awful. Why would 2 people hit each other like that?"
Me: "They get paid to see who can beat who."
Wife: "Crazy. How can you watch this stuff?"
Me: "With my eyes."
After the last round horn the cut up, beat up men abruptly stopped hammering away and hugged each other.
Wife: "They hug after beating the crap out of each other?"
Me: "Mutual respect."
Wife rolling her eyes: "That's stupid, it doesn't make any sense."
Me: "One time a guy hugged me and kissed me on the cheek after we fought in a parking lot."
Wife: "Why?"
Me: "Respect."
Wife: "No! Why'd the two of you fight?"
Me: "No real good reason come to think of it."
She looks at me like an interesting but failed lab experiment, and shakes her head. I give her the dog staring at a fan look I use when confronted with female logic.
Priceless post Jim, lol. Females don't get it and I don't expect them to. Nowhere I can think of in any sport, ''And yes it is a sport'', do the participants show more admiration and respect for each other than in the Mixed Martial Arts and especially the UFC. Yes, they talk some beat down trash before they fight, they are suppose to it's called the ''Build Up'', that's what the promoters and the fans want, it makes it fun. Then when it's over, respect is given from both sides, Dana demands it and they know it.Ouch would be correct, but those guys march to a different tune.
