I've booked a trip a trip with a guide to fish below the dams this weekend(May 9th).What's the chances he cancels due to high water?
I don't know about high water but I'm pretty certain the water they'll be releasing will make that place look like the Colorado River. You couldn't pay me to get below KY Dam when they're discharging 175,000 cfs through there. Good luck and stay safe.
One more thing. I just looked at the TVA website and it says that they're only pulling 44,000 cfs through Barkley Dam as opposed to 175,000 cfs at KY. I guess the Cumberland River Basin didn't get all that much rain (compaired to the TN River drainage area). You might be okay below Barkley. KY's definitely a no-no though.

The lakes are dumping big water right now. I don't fish below the dams but if I did I would not be down there. If I wanted to know whether or not a guide was going to cancel a trip, I would call and ask him.
