why is it so hard to believe that someone caught these fish? this is the main reason i dont post my days on the water and what i caught or didnt catch because someone is always ready to piss on somebodys parade or let them know that they dont know what they are doing. now that i got that off my chest, does anyone have any advice for prefishing the T word?

I think it's hard to believe this guy since noone I have ever known has caught that many fish that big in one trip. That includes fishing for pre-spawn, bedding bass or post spawn in Florida. So it sounds like a fish story to me.

I think the guy was just bragging and telling fish tales. JMO

the guy might have been bragging, but most of the fish stories ive heard the big ones have always gotten away

lil skeeeter, it's not that I find it hard to believe that anybody could catch all those big fish. It's that I find it hard to believe they caught them in a creek. 99 times out of 100 a creek cant' support that many big fish simply because it won't have the fertility and food chain to do such. However, if the creek were somewhat close to and connected to a large lake I could believe it from the standpoitn that maybe those fish ran up the creek to spawn.

this may have been that 1 in 100 creeks running through his farm. i cant say this man is stretching the truth until i know all the facts about this story. i mean we dont know what creek he was fishing, where this creek is and just how big it is, but to some of us it dont matter because we dont know anyone who had a day like this or even a day like this of our own.
im also one who will keep a mess of crappie, bream, and bass for the dinner table no matter how much negativity it receives.

I'm with ya there..if it's legal then do what you want with the fish you catch.
But this dudes fish story sounded like he exceeded the daily creel limit didn't it? I thought 6 was the daily limit? Anyway I don't believe it but that's just me.

also the fact that everyone gets there panties in a wad when someone mentions the fact that they took a few bass home. if everyone was not stuck in some kind of catch and release bubble and they opened their eyes a little they would be shocked at the number of bass that go home in the cooler and the fact that most of our lakes here in KY still have some decent fishing and even better fishing to come in the future. if no fish were harvested then we would have a population of undersized bass and a keeper would be very hard to come by. maybe something for the tournament guys to think about before they bash someone for taking out a few bass for the deep fryer.

I saw the wonderful (sarcasm intended) results of catch and release from a bass tournament two weeks ago on Cherokee Lake. About an hour after the weigh-in, I counted 13 dead smallmouths floating near the place where the fish were released. I know a fish will die occasionally but it was absolutely ridiculous to know those hotshots were that careless after constantly screaming, "catch and release." That's what sets my britches on fire.

I know of a creek in KY that you can catch ALOT of 4-6LB bass. I have caught a 22 pound sack--five bass--from there once with my partner last spring. As far as wading creeks goes the biggest bass I have caught or seen caught was a 3LB smallie (excuding Elkhorn she is in a different breed). It is possible for this to happen but like said in a previous post the "creek life" has to be right in order to hold a fish of that size. Current, water temp, food and other elements cause creek fish to grow more slowly than your lake or pond bass,in most cases twice as slow. If we had to fight current every day of our life we would be slim and in shape rather than fat and slow like I am getting.

Yep. I'd rather see someone eat them than have them just die there at the ramp.

I'm also surprised at the number of people who aren't even fishing in tournaments that tote the "keepers" around all day in their livewells just to release them at the end of the day. What is the point of that?
