    Need Prop Help

Busted a blade on my 27-M prop this weekend and am looking to upgrade. The motor, of course, is a 225 Yamaha HPDI. I am looking at going with the newer V-Max prop. Anyone have one these? How do they compair? The current prop is 14 1/2" in diameter. Do I have to stay with that or can I go with the 15 1/8" prop?

Take it and get it repaired. Save some money, you can ask the repairman what he would recommend. I take my props to Tuckers Landing not to far form B.P.S. in Clarksville, In. He does fantastic work, might be able to tweek your present prop to get what you want. He did mine and hit it right on the nose of what he said it would do.

Several sites out there to help you on this..14.5 to 15 1/8th isn't too much of a change. You need to make sure you have enough clearance between your blade and cavitation plate. Bigger Diameter doesn't mean more power or top end speed.. Best bet is to get with a dealer, head to the local lake and have them prop it for you.. Once you know the WOT for the engine you can try a few different props. It'll probably cost you about an hours worth of labot (plus the prop price) but this will help you get the best performance out of your rig.
