Anyone fish Senkos or stick baits?

I just purchased about $100 worth of Kinami and Senkos. I have never fished a deadstick bait. Anyone here fish them much? Any tips ,tricks , rigging methods or presentations are appreciated.

I like them in grass. You really cant fish it wrong , just dont try to make it work ( deadstick ). Good luck, I hope you get your monies worth.

throw it out slack line, don't touch it. look for the tick tick in the line you got'em. It used to be my favorite bait years ago, until I got hooked on the jig and c-rig. texas rig'em one end catch a few fish reverse it. then when both end are wore out. wacky rig it. then your good for a few more fish. seems too be real good when it's too hot for anything else.

I fish a senko or deadstick a trick worm on spinning tackle, 10lb line. The key is patience, unlike txs rig your not feeling the bottom, throw it into grass/grass edge and let it set then twitch it slow. Thats it pretty simple, i also wacky rig alot too with a 1/0 wide gap finnese.

When the fish are active I like to throw senko's like a soft plastic jerk bait. I will work it erratically a few feet and it will come up towards the surface then I will stop and let it sink to the bottom and let it sit there several seconds. The fish will almost always hit it on the way down.

Make sure you use the right hooks, I see people using too small of hooks with Senkos.

I mostly fish them wacky rigged. At Barren about 3 weeks ago thats all I could get them to bite. I've been to a pond here in Lexington recently too and thats all I could get them to bite too.

Usually - I throw it out let it sink. Let it sit on the bottom for a couple of seconds - Stroke it up 3-4 feet, and let it sink again - retrieve and repeat.

If they are active I will fish them like JD.

There really is no wrong way to fish one, except too fast.

If I T-rigg them I use a 3/0 EWG offset worm hook. If I wacky rig them I use a 1/0 EWG split shot/finesse hook. I double my hook ups with a smaller hook when wacky rigged - you don't even have to set the hook, more of a steady rod sweep. You will save quite a bit of money with the O-rings. If you don't use these wacky rigging, you will usually go through one senko per fish (it will rip), but with these you can catch 4, 5 or more per bait. Don't be afraid to use some dip dye on the ends either.

I love them they are my go to bait, I fish it with a small weight in the spring, and no weight in the hotter months slow fall is the way to go. Let it soak then give it a slight jerk.

By far my favorite go to bait. Dead stick em, work em, wacky em, you can't go wrong! Caught my largest bass on a 5 inch watermelon senko (9.8 lbs). All I saw was a light bounce to my line.....and.....WHAMO! Keep slack in your line and watch for the bounce. I also use spinning gear with 10 lb fluro. medium action rod 7'. Fun stuff!!!

I also had an incredible day once at Rough River with a watermelon senko wacky rigged. Mid May, casting along the rock banks back in a cove with a small weight to get it down quicker. It was every cast, and quality keepers. Must have ended up with a bag around 18lbs. By far the best day I have ever had at Rough. Good luck.
