Well I didn't get on the water until about 7:15 Sunday morning. I forgot about the parking permit that is required, so I had to wait until the marina opened to buy one. I have never fished Laurel so I went at it blind. I launched at Holly Bay and went right towards the dam. About my 5th cast I hooked what I thought was a log. Well that log jumped about 4 feet out of the water!!! A dandy smallie!! After a few minutes of battle and huge jumps I put it in the boat, 3lbs15oz.
It took me a while to get a pattern together but I had a blast. Caught 11 fish for the day. I had 3 LM over 2lbs and another SM over 3lbs. Best 5 would have been around 12 lbs.
Water was 66 when I started and around 70 when I took out. It was a little stained but perfect to fish.
Oh yeah..I caught a trout about 6" long on a fat free crank too.
I will be fishing this lake some more no doubt..love them brown fish!!
