Kentucky will be really good and quickly. I don't know what he says to kids but it's magic whatever it is.

whatever he's saying i hope he remembers how to do it for years to come....hate to say it but with pattersons announcement that hes coming back billy g has left cal in good shape....i believe darius miller will eventually be a really good player....i'm a die hard UK fan and was a little skeptical about whether he could really make them a good team in a year...but i believe with the additions of cousins and bledsoe he has done it....if Wall winds up a cat i believe they stand an honest chance at making a deep run in the tournament....look out cards the big blue is back

    Re: What about Coach Cal?

Hard to imagine a starting lineup of...

    Patterson
    Meeks
    Wall
    Miller
    Cousins

    with a "bench" of...
    Orton
    Bledsoe
    Hood
    Liggins
    Pilgrim

5-Stars rotating in for 5-Stars remind me of 1996 all over again, where the toughest games the team had were the practices against each other.

Let's land Wall, but even without him, we're going to be strong.

I'm virtually giddy at the thought of it, but the fact remains that these are kids...a lot of freshman kids...and it doesn't matter how many top quality parts you've got for an engine if they won't fit together and light a fire. These kids have to gel and work as a unit. I won't pencil in a championship or deep run just yet. There is always always always that factor, but it's Cal's job to put them together...and at this point I have the utmost confidence in his ability to do it.

    He's the man.

    He gets this job.

He is understanding how important this is to Kentuckians.

He's one hell of an ambassador for UK and for the state.

He's at an entirely different level than our two previous coaches.

(My Dad is a district administrator for Little League Baseball and Lexington is hosting the "World Congress" for Little League baseball this summer, downtown Lexington. Program Administrators and baseball coaches from all over the world will be here for a convention. They contacted Cal's people, put in a request for him to speak at the gig about coaching in general, and he accepted within a week. That's class.)

    Re: What about Coach Cal?

Don't count me in on the Coach Cal lovefest.

He's basically running kids off that signed to play at Uk to make room for the kids he wants and there's more to come with Patterson returning, who knows what Meeks is doing and maybe adding Wall so thats at least two more players he has to dump. I read a lot of UK message board stuff and when I see dissusicons about who UK should send packing to make room for whoever I get POed. I really, really don't like it. You can say they left because they didn't want to play for him, wouldn't have played anyway or whatever but I'm not buying it.

Most UK fans despised Cal when he was at Memphis and talked about how shaddy he was, how he has never won anything so why all the hype.......... but now he's at UK and all is forgiven. It was a complete 360 with the "he doesn't have to do that kind of stuff now that he's at UK, he's a proven winner.........." and I'm saying this based on personal conversations I had with people while he was at Memphis and after UK hired him.

One thing is for sure and that is he will win at UK but at what co$t.

    Re: What about Coach Cal?

I have never been a huge UK fan but I enjoy the excitement from the fans and media around here...it is a way of life for sure. It's sucking me in all the time.
I think that Coach Cal has brought so much more to the table than Billy G. that it makes the Honeymoon seems grand!

Everyone wants this program to excel again and if that means changing your mind from not liking a coach to accepting him then so be it. When Pitino left he was cursed and when he went to Louisville he was the devil! Guess how many people wanted him back when Billy G. was leaving? Most fans that I know for sure!

To me it's just a business and to succeed you have to adapt...that's what UK did.

    Re: What about Coach Cal?

The only thing is winning with Cal will come at the cost of things being much different than in the past.
He will bring in very questionable kids, some will be down right Gangsta Thugs, it's what he's known for. That's what the five star kids are becoming unfortunately, the Allen Iverson types. No more quicky clean...... let's just say pale kids.......
Uniforms will change and will be to cool for school, shorts will be touching the ground.
I know some of you UK boys are always ragging on the Tat's, well get ready, it's gonna look like a convention of Tatoo Charlie's immediately so get over it.
Chest pumping and beating and screamimg will be encouraged, so get over it.
Also about every few weeks to a few months there will be some sort of talk about a kid or two in trouble with the law and or not making the grade in school, get over it.
I can go on with things the fans of the Blue Nation are not going to like, but hey winning you wanted and winning you will get it just comes at the cost of CHANGE, LOL, seems to be alot of that going around lately and some of it ain't worth a crap!

    Re: What about Coach Cal?

Yep only alot worse depending on how you look at it. I really wasn't trying to be a smartarse all I'm saying is that there is some Izod wearing stuffed shirt's season ticket holders in Rupp that is in for a serious culture shock. I will make one prediction though.

In less than three years there will be a player contraversy rear it's ugly head, mark my word. When you recruit all two year players that are all NBA bound that's just the way it is. Now all this being said UK fans want wins, Mitch Barnyard wants wins so he can stay employed, and all I think were willing to sell their soul to Lucifer to get it, so be happy wins they be a coming.
