Hard to imagine a starting lineup of...
Patterson
Meeks
Wall
Miller
Cousins
with a "bench" of...
Orton
Bledsoe
Hood
Liggins
Pilgrim
5-Stars rotating in for 5-Stars remind me of 1996 all over again, where the toughest games the team had were the practices against each other.
Let's land Wall, but even without him, we're going to be strong.
I'm virtually giddy at the thought of it, but the fact remains that these are kids...a lot of freshman kids...and it doesn't matter how many top quality parts you've got for an engine if they won't fit together and light a fire. These kids have to gel and work as a unit. I won't pencil in a championship or deep run just yet. There is always always always that factor, but it's Cal's job to put them together...and at this point I have the utmost confidence in his ability to do it.
He's the man.
He gets this job.
He is understanding how important this is to Kentuckians.
He's one hell of an ambassador for UK and for the state.
He's at an entirely different level than our two previous coaches.
(My Dad is a district administrator for Little League Baseball and Lexington is hosting the "World Congress" for Little League baseball this summer, downtown Lexington. Program Administrators and baseball coaches from all over the world will be here for a convention. They contacted Cal's people, put in a request for him to speak at the gig about coaching in general, and he accepted within a week. That's class.)
