I will be on Barkley on the 16th and maybe 17th. Will be fishing KY Lake rest of week but never been on Barkley and looking for some advice on good area to put in and fish. Probably only fish for a day.
I see the water is still rising so hope its still up when I get there.
Thanks for any help.
Can't beat Kuttawa.
Kuttawa is good, but for the most part the whole lake has little honey holes everywhere. Biggest thing I can tell you is follow those channel markers to the T. That lake has a lot more hazardous layout than Kentucky Lake, so pay close attention to your maps and fishfinder depth. But some of the coves west of Kuttawa and ones directly across on the LBL side are really productive. Good Luck!
Thanks for the advise guys. Yes, kow Barkley can be hazardous so will be cautious when running.
There's a forest floating in Barkley right now and I don't see it getting much better any time soon. If you value your lower unit then you'll stay on KY Lake. They're predicting the lake to be 6 feet over summer pool by Tuesday. With that rising water the floating trees might even get thicker than they are now.
I like the high water but not the debris. Will check on Friday and decide which to do Barkley or KY. Thanks
Just got back from a week there and went out of the Kuttawa alot. Be careful the worst area for us was around Crab Ck. and Carmack areas. That bend we had to almost idol thru acouple of times. Kuttawa still the easiest ramp to cover area quick.
