I see Bass Pro has a $20 off 100 or more coupon. It's time for a new spinning rod or spin/rod combo. I have an energy reel that's fine, but my number one priority is a new rod which will be used for Mr. Shakey. Although, i wouldn't mind getting a whole new setup.
Can someone give me advice on a really good spin rod or spin/rod combo for under $150? I'm 6'3", so was wanting one at least 7ft. with a stiff feel and fast tip. I currently have 17lb. bps flouro spooled on the energy reel, but my rod seems to be a bit whippy when fishing the shakey. any help out there?

I agree totally with fisheater, the Symetre combo w/ a BPS Extreme rod is excellent, but if you're wanting to go a little cheaper, I have a two Shimano Sahara combos that are awesome (even before I upgraded to Johnny Morris rods, which are KILLER!). Can grab a Sahara/Extreme combo from Bass Pro for around $150, but might be on sale online.
my buddy just bought the Sahara w/BPS extreme rod combo,it was on sale for $129, but you had to tell the store to price match the BPS site on the internet. It's a nice combo. I also have the Symetry on the J morris signiture series rod and love it, great feel and is really balanced combo.
You can't go wrong with either.

any pros or cons on going with a long rod like that or should i stick with 7 footers?
i love my johnny morris but it is a 7'0" medium i dont own anything longer then 7'0" and nothing shorter then a 6'6" so i cant realy help you with any info on a longer rod but it realy depends how it feels to you.
St Croix premier with a Shimano Sahara. This should fit your price range and is a great set-up. If you can upgrade to the avid. I have two of these combos and two avid/sahara combos.
