I use my Marksman slingshot and peanut M&M'S for ammo. It pizzes them off BAD. It doesn't kill them but they walk around my yard now.

Any remedy for Starlings or black birds? I have way to many that love my trees. I send bottle rockets up in the evening but those little buggers start squawking and call in their friends.......I feel like thay are making fun of me.

Use a pellet gun and kill one or two and leave them lying there. Same for crows. The rest won't be so eager to come around for some reason. LOL Sweetie Pie taught me that. For some reason cats won't eat those things. I've been doing target practice on them for years and it works at my house.

This is what worked by accident (sort of). Jack Russell Terriers are fast as lightning and hate cats. There were some feral cats that were climbing a 4' high chain link fence like it was a tree and ruining my flowers. I turned my dog out into the yard and the fur flew. When the fight was over the score was 1-0, with the dog as winner and not one scratch. We had a solemn funeral for the cat but the dog refused to let him rest in peace. She was so mad she dug him up and "killed" him again. We had to put the cat into a garbage bag and dispose of it elsewhere. Get you a dog that hates cats.

So instead of cleaning up cat dung we can clean up dog dong--kind of self defeating isn't it?

BTW, Bug, did you get your new computer set up ok?

    Re: Stray Cast

I've got both a dog and two cats. The dog thinks she is a cat and my oldest cat is the top dog around my house. I know cats hate citrus for sure. The cats at my house make short work of critters that think my house is their house and the dog keeps us all safe. Works for me. Oh and my dog is not small. She is part chow and part Great Pieranese. She could make short work of those cats if she wanted to. I'm not for the pellet gun technique. I had a cat that had several of those things lodged in her skin. My neighbors cat was shot with a pellet gun and it hit just right. The cat drug itself back to it's masters house using it's front paws because it's spine was ruptered and was instantly paralized. I don't like stray cats in my yard either, but there are a couple things that will work other than citrus. One is a dog. Works every time and the other is a big ole tom cat. He will not allow another cat in his territory. I know that for fact also.

glueboard type mouse trap. Lay several around the flowerbed. The cats will eventually get stuck. It is funny watching those cats walk around with a large piece of cardboard stuck to their backside. You will see the cats later w/ a few bald spots. It is typically the owner that will make the decision to keep the cats from roaming after they have to tangle w/the cat on the glueboard.

    It worked for me

Come on, Grumpy! My dog doesn't have to bury her poop because she can't stand the smell of it. lol She doesn't go inside the yard, there are 81 acres outside the fence that she can "dump" on. Oh, and she's not the size of a pony, you know, big dog = big poo. She lays down perfectly formed mini-cigars. lol

Computer setup okay...still trying to negotiate the new system. Thanks.

Jack Russell's are awesome dogs. The best mouser I ever saw was a Jack Russell Terrier at Churchill Downs. Hands down better than any cat.

Thanks for all the help. I have tried REPEL but you have to reapply it after every rain and that gets expensive. Yesterday I bought mothballs and put them out. Also the wife bought a big bag of oranges and we will put the peels out just to be double sure.

Had a stray dog lying under my boat couple mornings ago...when I tried to get my cover off the boat he tried to take me out....luckily I made it back in the house before he took my leg off. Couple of well placed .38 hollow points did the trick...works everytime.

Let me clarify something before someone faints. I failed to say, "Use a pellet gun to kill one or two BLACKBIRDS." I went back and reread my post and it sounded like I could have been talking about cats. lol
