    Kentucky Lake...

Hey fellas! My dad and I will be coming down to Kentucky Lake the last weekend in May (Out of the southern end of the lake). Any info regarding the following would be appreciated by guys who aren't lucky enough to fish this lake more often!! Will we be able to catch fish shallow still...topwater...SB....soft plastics??? Will points or humps play a factor??? Conventional wisdom says fish the ledges, but we are new to that. We can find the ledges with our electronics, but don't know how to find the good ones or know how to fish them effectively. Cranks seem obvious, along with jigs and worms...any other ideas. We're surely not asking for spots...just any info that could lead us in the right direction! Thanks!

For ledge fishing, I would use a Carolina Rig.....10 inch worms, big lizards, or brush hogs.

You can still catch fish shallow then. If you find any yellow flowers left in the water, fish 'em. Other than that fish the buck brush. Most of the fish will likely have moved out but they will be up there early and late feeding. You can catch some good fish at night on a spinnerbait too up shallow.

Dude, you should have some great water to fish. By then, the lakes should be back down, esp. if this dry spell holds out. If you have any ripple at all on the lake, throw those wonderful spinnerbaits. Chartruese and white are great colors.

Never underestimate a CR'ed zoom lizard, in pumpkin/chartruese, and dye the tail for extra contrast. You can whack them both shallow and deep. Don't be afraid to move to the 8 inch lizard.

Shad colored crankbaits will or should still be good too.

I'm taking a couple of guys out fishing tomorrow. One of them hasn't been fishing in about 15 years, so I am really hoping to have him on some good fish. I haven't checked the water levels today, but last check showed them pulling the lakes hard. This can have an adverse affect on us, but I am confident we will scratch out a few fish for sure.

    Good luck to you,

    HD

Thanks fellas! That gives me some ideas to start with. What am I looking for in a good ledge/drop? Any suggestions on how to find the shell beds you hear guys talking about?
