Andrew.....The more I think about your response the more it honks me off.

Your response is EXACTLY what most libs do.......You proofread it........LOOKING FOR ERRORS and skipped over the CONTENT.........

Granted what I was trying to convey and how I did was a little wrong, but it was not deliberate....the data I was using to talk about OIL imports was about how much we DON'T import from countries that HATE us....I messed up about us importing MOST of our OIL from Canada.........

AND don't even TALK about short term thinking.............Need I say........3 TRILLION dollars in 100 days............WOW. You think they GIVE a CRAP about the long term consiquences of their spending.....HELL NO.

Ok, I over stated a little. However, I still stand by the drill drill drill approach as being a bad idea. If we went that route we would just hold off on working on alt sources. I also like the idea of having oil sources here that we could exploit in an emergancy so we do not have to rely on others. After all, if we have sources that we can use, that is a bargining chip. If we have none, we are at the mercy of those who have oil. Its not a repub or dem thing. Both have failed us on this issue. Caffe standards, if I remember right, were started in the 70's. The Bush admin dropped the ball and did not enforce them. The Clinton admin came up with the stupid idea that SUV's were not cars, therefore, not required to meet the standards. Probably part of why the auto industry is in the current mess.

Because capitalism doesn't work(capitalism goes with freedom), I guess what we need is a President that will come in here and take over the auto industry, fire the ceo's and tell them what kind of cars to build. Of course he will have to controll the masses by raising gas prices so that the dumb car buyers out there will have to buy these cars that don't use very much of that evil oil by product. He will revive the economy, save the auto industry and get ride of that nasty oil all at the same time. Now that's a plan. Going cold turkey isn't that bad after all. The government will decide for us what cars are in demand. I can't wait to drive a car that has a big wind mill on top of it. I wonder how they will get that thing to work without any oil in it. I wonder how many products are made using oil. I can just see a tank out on the battle field hoping the sun comes out or the wind to blow. Wow cold turkey isn't that great after all.

My nephew lost his job recently. He worked for that evil oil company that Vice President Cheney runs. He just bacame a father and now is looking for a more PC job. He will have a hard time finding a job that starts you out at 60 g's and raises to 80's in two years. As long as there are people trying to kill oil, people like my nephew will loose their good paying jobs. My father-in-law worked for an evil refinery. I asked him why we have issues with gas prices. He told me that the government wont let them build more refineries. He says there is a huge bottle neck. See what happens when the government tells you what you can and can't do in a capitalist society. I say we let the people decide what cars the auto companies build, with their check books. I'm for freedom.
