That's a GREAT way to look at it..........

And I can almost GUARANTEE you I started of FAR WORSE than you and most here, so don't give me that garbage about how she will help the common man.

If SOCIALIST policies and legislating from the bench are what you call American Values, your America is a FAR place from my America.

60 percent of her opinions have been overturned by the Supreme Court.

AND I hate to say it..........she sounds like a RACIST.........

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

    Had a WHITE man said:

"I would hope that a wise White man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a hispanic female who hasn't prospered as much in life."

He would be called a RACIST.......

    Yes........the woman is a HATE Spewing.......RACIST........

At least get the whole quote so you can see it in context and make an informed descision:

"Our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am also not so sure that I agree with the statement. First, as Professor [Martha] Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise. Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." [U.C. Berkeley School of Law, 10/26/2001]

Re: Sonia Sotomayor makes David Souter look like a RIGHT WING NUTJOB.

    Another quote for you:

""I don't come from an affluent background or a privileged background. My parents were both quite poor when they were growing up. And I know about their experiences and I didn't experience those things. I don't take credit for anything that they did or anything that they overcame.
But I think that children learn a lot from their parents and they learn from what the parents say. But I think they learn a lot more from what the parents do and from what they take from the stories of their parents lives.
And that's why I went into that in my opening statement. Because when a case comes before me involving, let's say, someone who is an immigrant -- and we get an awful lot of immigration cases and naturalization cases -- I can't help but think of my own ancestors, because it wasn't that long ago when they were in that position.
And so it's my job to apply the law. It's not my job to change the law or to bend the law to achieve any result.
But when I look at those cases, I have to say to myself, and I do say to myself, "You know, this could be your grandfather, this could be your grandmother. They were not citizens at one time, and they were people who came to this country."
When I have cases involving children, I can't help but think of my own children and think about my children being treated in the way that children may be treated in the case that's before me.
And that goes down the line. When I get a case about discrimination, I have to think about people in my own family who suffered discrimination because of their ethnic background or because of religion or because of gender. And I do take that into account. When I have a case involving someone who's been subjected to discrimination because of disability, I have to think of people who I've known and admire very greatly who've had disabilities, and I've watched them struggle to overcome the barriers that society puts up often just because it doesn't think of what it's doing -- the barriers that it puts up to them.
So those are some of the experiences that have shaped me as a person".

Here's the experience I would hope she has. Know the constitution and rule accordingly. I don't care where she came from or where she is going. From what I remember lady justice is blind. A judge should not see what color a person is or the background of that person. Rule based on the law. If life history is so important than why did we have such a hard time getting Justis Thomas confimed. I don't want anyone feeling my pain, just rule based on the law.

Andrew.....the WHOLE quote does not change the POINT I was making.

Had a white man said the following:

"I would hope that a wise White man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a hispanic female who hasn't prospered as much in life."

He would be called a RACIST.......

EVEN if this was put into the SAME context as SotoPsycho put it, he would have been run out of town.

Geo, guess I'm reading it differently than you. Just revealing things that may bias her descisions. We all have them. As far as the "wise Latina woman" versus "white male", if the male does not have the same life experience as the woman, they will have different conclusions. Sounds to me like she is comparing someone with experience to someone who does not have that experience.

"...If life history is so important than why did we have such a hard time getting Justis Thomas confimed..."

I seem to remember something about a sexual harassment scandel or something. Been a while, may be someone else has the details.

I have a bone to pick with the words racist and racism.

It's a communist construct, originating with communist mass-murderer Leon Trotsky. It was used to rail against those that hold ethnocentric views. Mainly so he could gain control of the Bolshevik party. However, ethnocentrism is human nature. To argue that "racism," and ethnocentrism are wrong is to argue that human nature is flawed. It very well could be, but to believe human nature can be re-engineered, well, good luck making that argument.

Is Sotomayor an anti-White, pro-Latino piece of filth? Most certainly.

Want to talk about "racism," in it's misrepresented modern definition? There wasn't a single white person considered for the position of Supreme Court Justice. Soon enough, if we allow it to happen, White folks will be purged from the White house.

    I'm a realist, I call a spade a spade.
