All I can tell ya is good luck you are gonna need it. In my humble opinion the night bite for the stripes has been completely horrible this year. Maybe now that the lake has stabilized a little and they aren't pulling the bottom off of it you might have a chance. Good luck, say a prayer, take a lucky rabbitt's foot with you, maybe a four leaf clover or two, cross your fingers, say a couple of Hail Mary's and you might, maybe get a couple, lol.
I am also planning to go this weekend and was hoping to get some reports.
I havent been in a couple of weeks, but a friend of mine fished wed. & thurs ( 20 & 21) on the lower end. they had a slow night wed., but caught 4 keepers, a couple of shorts, & lost a couple thurs. night. shad were sporadic, most fish caught sub surface on cranks, very, very few blowups.
I live in WV and was down 15,16,17,&18th and we had no action but lake was up like 18 feet. Only caught one short striper. If you can would you tell what type of crank bait they used?????![]()
The only thing I've had any positive feed back on, and what we have caught some fish on with any regularity at all has been slivers. A few on bucktails, but man it's been slow this year.
The fish i have caught were on slivers as well. friends of used slivers, rapalas, & redfins, as i said the redfin did not do well then, maybe things will better this weekend.
How far off the bank have the fish been caught with the slivers???
I made my weekly trip last night with grousegunner and got skunked! Shad activity was very, very light but happened between 12-3. We tried all the usual surface and sub-surface stuff. About 2am I decided to just use the trolling motor to see if the fish were even there. Nope, none, nada. I finally threw in the towel about 5am when the skies opened up. BTW, fished mid lake and most of the debris is now on shore but there is still the occasional big log here and there that will mess your world up. I believe I'm going to hold off on my trip next week unless the board starts poppin with some hot reports.
