If the census ask "How many guns are in the house" I might say "come find out!"

I saw a bit on Fox News yesterday that the 2010 Census is in the form of a 28 page questionaire which is supposedly legally required to be completed in full and returned to the Census Bureau. Apparently, it is full of reqeusts for personal and private information, much of which the commentators were at a loss to figure out why the government needed such information. A few of the questions they touched on (that I remember) were:
What is the assessed value of your home? What is the annual income of each person in the home? How many bathrooms are in your home? How many telephones do you have? How may vehicles are in the household (cars, trucks, Vans, SUVs, ATVs etc)? Which vehicle does each person drive to work? What time do you leave for work? What time do you return home? What is the marital status of each person in the home? How many times has each been married and/or divorced.
There was more I don't remember but the commentators were amazed at the extent of the personal information that was requested. The were even more amazed that the ACLU and other such organizations were not up in arms about it.
It sounds like it is going to be interesting.

I don't like most of the questions anyway. What is the point of any of the questions beyond just counting people? Are we legally required to answer the questions or can we just throw it in the trash.
I actually went and looked at the census site just now. By the language on the site, I'm not sure it's required by law. If I can make certain of that, I'm either not going to answer any of it or I'm going to just answer the very basic questions and leave the rest blank.

One more bit of info. I got this from Ron Paul's site (who I voted for as a write in on the last election):

He says he answers the question about how many live in the house and pastes a copy of the relevant article of the constitution that says that's all you have to do and then mails it back.
That is a good idea, thanks for posting that, I will keep it in mind when I get the papers. One more bit of info. I got this from Ron Paul's site (who I voted for as a write in on the last election):
