Anyone have an update as to what happened?

No verifiable updates yet, but yes, it was Tony.
There's still a lot of speculation as to what exactly happened. Indications seem to be that something broke in/on the boat, it went into a sharp turn at high speed and he was thrown from the boat.
Sources tell me that as of this morning (Monday morning) the body had not been recovered. To bad the guy had to pass away so soon in his life, but at least he passed away doing what he liked to do best. God bless him and his family.
Prayers for the family. Sad .............
I dont know how to swim, and dont, at times, wear a pfd..........
makes one think.
Don't matter if you can swim or not if you are thrown from the boat and knocked unconsciences swimming don't do you much good but a pfd can it can keep you up so someone can help you. Please wear a pfd if not for you for your family and friends I'am sure they would much rather go fishing then to a funeral.
If you hate wearing a bulky lifejacket, save up, spend the $200 on the auto-inflate ones. I broke down and got one and it's great. It's works off of water pressure and has the meter to tell if it's armed. It's very comfortable even when it's hot. It doesn't impede you in any way. This and kill switches can and will save your life. I know a friend that was using both while solo on the river last year and he survived to tell the story. His waders even filled up with water but his lifejacket saved his life. All that was lost was his motor and some gear.
Can you tell us which model you got that you like? I've been looking a few. The BPS circular from the Clarksville store has a Mustang Deluxe Auto Reg $189 On Sale for $149. The website shows the $189 price so I think you have to go in the store for the sale. I always wear a bulky one when the boat is under way but take it off when fishing. After doing a little research, it sounds like there are quite a few drowning victims who slip while fishing and hit their head and get knocked out. Especially when fishing alone.
I actually went with the Mustang hydrostatic inflator system. This one doesn't go off when it rains or gets damp. You have to be submerged in at least 4 inches of water before it inflates. I checked the prices and right now it's about $280 or so. I know this is expensive, but the re-arming kits are expensive if it gets wet in your boat and goes off. If you want comfort while providing safety save up and get one. Here's a link to BPS of the one I have. Hope the links works. If not, just search their site and you will find it.Can you tell us which model you got that you like? I've been looking a few. Me and Tony were good friends and I can not tell you how much this upset me and my family. Tony was one of those I am here when you need me friends. Tony was a big supporter of the Trooper Island @ Dale Hollow, Fishing for Kids, and anything that involved getting kids outdoors. Tony even sold a kid (I think he said he fished the UL Team) a boat for $1.00 just so the kid would have a boat to fish out of. When my motor blew up at my first tour this year and he knew I was doing a FFK event out of state and I needed my boat. Tony ordered the thing for me, charged me nothing for the extra shipping and helped me work on it and test and dyno it at 9:00 pm the night before I was to leave out of town.
Prayers are with family, Tony was a great person and friend.
