Just thought I would share a moment of embarrassment with you all. After an early afternoon lounging around the pool I decided to put my johnboat in the creek and take my new girlfriend for a little trip on the water and a little bit of fishing, I guess i shoulda checked to make sure the battery was charged because it died about halfway back. A nice guy came along with a younger boy and a little girl on his boat and offered to tow me in, oh and they had a nice 5lb largemouth in the boat also! As I am hanging onto the tow rope and heading back to the dock I hear in a loud screaming from the back of the boat...."SNAKE!!!!!!SNAKE!!!!!!! I looked down and climbing over my foot was about a four foot long snake. In one second I dropped the tow rope, dove out of the boat and left my girlfriend to deal with the snake on her own! Well, I tell ya it was a swim of shame back to the boat. Turned out it was just a non poisonous gardener snake and I picked it up and let it go. I have no idea why I reacted in such a way, I just wish I had held on to the new $250 sunglasses on my head!!! I have always thought I was someone who could handle situations pretty cool and calmly but when it comes to a woman screaming SNAKE!!! SNAKE!!! at the top of her lungs I guess I'm not. I am pretty sure the little girl on the boat hung her head in shame for me too! The cold beer and big ribeye on the grill later last night helped me reassure myself I was still a man, now convincing my girlfriend will be the tough part!!
p.s. To the guy who towed me in... thanks, and I hope your kids didn't learn any new four letter words from the experience.

. Saw a few sunning out on cumberland. Also saw more snakes on the main stem of elkhorn than I had seen in a long long time. There were probably a total of 10 or more that we saw just yesturday and some were really rather large. I guess the 100's+ of yakers and canoers that were out there this weekend riled em all up...
