    Re: Hummingbird Side Imaging ??

I bought one last year and i absolutely love it, especially on lakes i've never been on before. I'm not sure about your boat type, but one mine, if I wanted the side imaging to work while trolling i had to buy an additional "thru-hull" transducer, which i opted not to do as of yet, but it still works great idling along. I don't think you will regret it if you get one. Just my opinion though.

i got one last year and it is the best thing i ever did. it is awsome some of the things you will find is crazy. i have located alot of good fishing spots that i never would have found if i did not have one. i seen a lounge chair one of the old ones with the rubber stripe things in the ohio river you could see it plain as day. if you buy one you wont regreat it.

i have mine mounted on my trolling motor in the front of my boat. and if i want to idle through a area i just leave my trolling motor in the water and it works great like that to. i could talk all day about the things this unit can do well worth the money.

the white returns are bigger fish the thing i like is that you can scroll over where you see fish with the aarow curser and mark where they are at on your gps. then you can back off and fish it good knowing there is a fish there. pretty cool

That is what I thought would be very valuable as well and knowing exactly where ledges and such are. I use my GPS with a contour map now, but with the limited accuracy I still have to watch the SONAR to know exactly where it is. I sure wish I could get one right now..

i keep mine on 10 and my side view at 70 to 80 feet on each side the smaller your side view is the better read you get or at least i like it better that way. and if i am going in a cove i will set it on about 50 or less becouse there is less water to read. it is easyer for me to look out and judge 100 feet or less plus that is around my casting range at the max so any thing more then that i could not reach on a cast any way. i also use the split screen with the gps map to see where i am at on the contour lines and breaks. once i find where i like then i will put it on full side imaging to get a sweet spot. hope some of this info helps.

Smuckey41, How do you have it mounted to your trolling motor? I was told that if you mounted it like a normal puck tranducer, when you turned the motor, you changed the direction of image. Say if you turned right the right side is under the boat and the left is in front.

that is true, but it does not bother me becouse you know what it is doing, pluse if you are paralleling a bank you can read what is in front of you. and if you turn a little it will bump a bit but pics right back up. it may bother some people but it dont me. plus with it in the front you can see what is around the boat in stead of what is on the back of the boat on. just my prefrence it works good for me. all i can tell you is try it out and see if you like it or not but i do like it alot like that. hope this helps.

    thanks
