    Question Hummingbird Side Imaging ??

Looking for opinions from owners/users. Considering purchase for use while drifting or trolling for stripers and catfish in freshwater. Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use a 797 SI unit and have disappointed with the images it produces. The images are not clear enough to see what is really there....unless it is a very definite (hard ) object like a ramp, or pole, or submerged sidewalk, etc....maybe I just haven't figured out the settings yet. I would appreciate any info on this topic also.

You do have to do some missing around with the settings bps just had a great class on how to use them from the factory rep. changing chart speed and sensitivity. will get a competely different pic on the same run. the worst thing that i have found so far is you spend more time jacking with it then fishing. But you sure can see thing differently.

This should help you with any questions about SI. I have used these units for two years now and have even trained people on what they are seeing on the screen. The 797 does have a smaller screen which can be hard to determine what you are seeing. I use the 1197si and the 997si units and have no problem.

i use the 797 and i do love it. no, your not really going to see every stump and every rock. the images advertised are of HUGE trees, rockpiles, and stuff but heres what i think its great for. Finding balls of shad in open water, it covers a much greater distance than a depth finder. And dissecting structure and grasslines, you can see exactly how a creek runs thru the area and its also perfect for finding holes in grass, points and whatnot on grasslines. the way i see it is that its your arial photo, it gives you a good understanding of how everything lays out but you still need to run over your spots with the depthfinder to pinpoint everything.
