If i catch some hogs i will try and post a few pics on here for you guys. My dad told me he used to catch em on a spoon with a grub trailer drug on the grass. Has anyone ever tried this???
i am laughing today because i almost posted a reply to your post yesterday telling you that i have been throwing frogs at that grass on stoner for the past two weeks with no luck. I got home last night, grabbed my new virgin loomis/revo setup, tied on a gambler cane toad, walked to the bank on stoner outside my house and on the second cast pulled in a nice 3lb chunk outta the grass!!!

    Tim,
I have but they don't look as good to me. I think Zoom did it right with their action of the legs. I know the others catch fish but I love them Zooms!

Will do. I have seen you out several times if you are the house with the ramp and the pontoon. I have caught some decent fish off your bank at night. You have a great little honey hole!!

I use a strike king swimming frog with about a number 4 size hook that has been skin hooked at the top which makes it perfect cause the hook comes out of the top of the frog so it almost never gets hung up and you can land those lunkers with no problem at all.
    Good luck and good fishin'

You have to give them a couple seconds to inhale it - don't set the hook on the strike, but instead count 1, 2, kapow!

Once they're hooked, you just winch them in and never give them any slack.

I use the SPRO Bronzeeye (not the Jr.) religiously on the grass matts, and it works well...very well! Even the Chain Pickerel like that thing - and they usually scare the heck out of me with their strikes!

What kind of retreive do you use. Pop, twitch, walk the dog, or what?
I don't have a lot of luck on that type cause i don't have a retreive that I am confident in. I use the paddle tail type with good luck but, all I do is real them in, through places I can't get a buzzbait.

i cast out and let it set there for about 10 sec the reel it about a foot and watch about a 4 foot circle around it for about 10 sec if u c any movement twitch it a few time but dont move it far and pause it again and repeat if that aint workin i real it about hafe way and let it sit and bring it to the edge of the weed and off that a few inches some time they will not hit it in the weeds or grass mats but will nail it on the edge

I use the Bronzeye Jr. on the mat exclusively, the reg. Bronzeye is to heavy and it plows the mat too much. The best retrieve for me is steady short twitch with the rod tip down, no slack. When you gets to an open hole, pause it for a second or two like the others have said. If you have a large open area, speed up the retrieve. Make it looks like the frog is trying to get to the next mat for safety. Also, do this from the edge of the mat to half way to the boat. Generally, fast twitch for open water. There is nothing better then frog fishing in my book, I got one tied on year round.
