Your favorite night-fishing line???

I like Stren blue/flo for under the blacklight shows up great , decent for abrasion resistance and the price is right also

I use other lines (flouro, braids etc. ) for several applications but for under the blacklight it's tough to beat Stren IMHO

I've heard several people give possitive reviews on Yo-zuri hybrid smoke puple. I would like to try it, but can't find it with out ordering it.
I am using P-line at the moment and until I run up on this stuff (locally) I guess I'll stay with the P-line.
I did consider the flame green Fire line, but read that it stains easily, the dirtier the water the less visible the line....???
I would like to get away from the heavier P-line though.

There is a very large bass somewhere in Nolin with my jig in his jaw from fishing there is past Sunday, courtesy of yo-zuri smoke breaking off on me. Now I know there could've be a nick, maybe I should've retied more often. But I can't get past the fact that the yo-zuri broke. I will no longer use it. I mainly use Gamma anyway but play around with a couple others from time to time. From now on I'm sticking with Gamma Copoly. The stuff is flat out strong, good abrasion resistance, and casts a mile. I tried P-line CXX, it is strong, very strong but too wirey for me. Gamma is just as stong without the stiffness. IMO

BTW, the breakoff was at the end of the day after catching nothing but dinks up until then. It's a long ride to Louisville from Nolin after that, ask my fishing buddy, he had to listen to me whine.

Palomar... Started doing it the way Shaw Grisby (I think) does. Where it becomes a slip knot. It's been working fine. Less friction on the line than the old way I tied a Palomar.

My dad picked up a spool of that yo-zuri line a few years back and that was not very good line at all. He did buy it on clearance which may have indicated it was old line but he had a lot of problems breaking off. I wouldn't touch that stuff with someone else's rod (unless I was competing against them of course).

As far as the general question goes on night lines -- I guess I am kind of old school when it comes to night fishing. I don't use anything different than my day line and I don't use black lights. I don't fish by watching my line I fish strictly by feel so how I feel strikes is no different than during the day. As long as you aren't fishing in the wind the real trick to feeling strikes is to keep your line relatively tight and keep constant contact with the lure. If it is windy you have to adjust and it is difficult to fish slow.

The only thing I find different when night fishing is on a dark night I have a little trouble sometimes determining how far from the bank I am. That is about the only time I consider using lights but I still don't. My eyes will eventually adjust or I will lose my lures in the trees. As far as the line I use on my casting rods it is Trilene Big Game 12 or 20 depending on the lure. I know - old school but I rarely break anything off (even the trees take a beating) and I don't have any problem feeling strikes...

i guess i am old school to becouse i dont use a light either, and like you said as long as you are in contact with the lure you will fill the strikes. the only diffrence is i use fluorocarbon,any where from 8-15 pounds. i love to throw a shaky head on 8 pound test at night, cought alot of 4 and 5 pounders doing this last year awsome fight on spinning gear.

I fish some spinning tackle at night too. Jigs and spinners are standard casting rod fare but I like to fish a worm or tube on a spinning rod. But I tend to fish on the heavier side of spinning in case I run into a good one. That shaky head on medium spinning tackle could be interesting at night. Do you fish it slow on the bottom or more swim it?

Bass Pro Shop XPS Flourocarbon, no blacklight, all by feel and it landed a 23-8 Striper on a Medium Action Spinning rod exactly one week ago tonight just about to the minute 1 week ago tonight for it was right around 10pm when I started the fight and about 15 after when she was landed.

i like to fish it slow on the bottom. but alot of times i will throw it out around the first little drop off the bank and it don't even have time to hit the bottom before one has done nailed it.
