i like a 5/0 gamma.
I like a 5
4/0 EWG worls fine for me and is usually what I use...I guess a 5/0 would give you a hair bit more weight thus helping with casting the worm.
I was using a 5/0 offset gammy and kept losing fish well elite series pro bill lowen was fishing an open tx on the river and I asked him what size hook would give me better hookups he said a 3/0 offset because a 5/0 would go into a fishes brain and kill them.hope that helps.
I have hooked a few eyeballs in my day with a 5/0 but I have bever heard of skull hooking a bass.I was using a 5/0 offset gammy and kept losing fish well elite series pro bill lowen was fishing an open tx on the river and I asked him what size hook would give me better hookups he said a 3/0 offset because a 5/0 would go into a fishes brain and kill them.hope that helps.
5/0 OWNER. Use a regualr worm hook, not the wide gap. JMO.
I use gamma's for almost everything but big worms. I like a 5/0-7/0 owner for these - those are usually for larger 12+ inch worms. For around 10" (powerbaits or Huey's/original ringers - my favorite) I like a 5/0 gamma.
I like a using a 4 ott owner straight shank when using worms. I think it gives you a better hook set and presentation.
I use a 5/0 - 7/0, depending on water clarity. I also use a plain old worm bend, no extra wide gap.![]()
i was told when i first started fishin that the hook size dont realy matter becouse the fish will bite heads first so it will hit the hook end first. i know it makes me mad when you get those tail biters.
Never heard of that nor have I done that. Sure sounds odd...I'll keep it the way I do it.I was using a 5/0 offset gammy and kept losing fish well elite series pro bill lowen was fishing an open tx on the river and I asked him what size hook would give me better hookups he said a 3/0 offset because a 5/0 would go into a fishes brain and kill them.hope that helps.![]()
