In memory of Tony Reynolds

I may not be the most appropriate one to post this as I didn't know Tony as well as many on this board, but he and I shared a common interest that maybe many of you didn't know about. Tony probably wasn't one to brag about his contributions to worthy causes, but he was a member of the board of directors of Kentucky State Police Trooper Island kids camp. (www.kentuckystatepolice.org/island.htm). Trooper Island is a camp on Dale Hollow Lake and not only was he a board member but also a major contributor in many ways to the success of the kids camp. There were many occasions through the years where boats and motors were repaired with no labor bill. Given the number of boats and engines owned by the island and the fact that much of the camp is run on donations, this was no small contribution to the success of the program. Many of you may not have been aware of this as it typically was not advertised or made public. I don't believe he did it for public recognition as much as he did it because he saw how much good the program did in young people's lives. Today at Trooper Island Appreciation Day, a well deserved moment of reflection was held for board member Tony Reynolds. This is not some shameless attempt for donations to the camp. I invite you to visit the above website and there is an address where one can send a check in his honor and memory. Visit the website to see some of the good he was a part of and some of the good he did that maybe many of you did not realize.

I also was not well acquainted with Mr. Reynolds but on occasion I would see him around the marina. Hell I probably cussed him more than once while he was testing out boats, for rocking the hell out of the canoe I was fishing in of course. Anyway, one great outdoors man has passed and left us all a great example to follow. In memory of Tony I pledge to take at least one child fishing with me this summer and focus on teaching them the joys of the outdoors. Thanks for all your hard work, my thoughts and prayers are with your family, rest in peace Tony.

As I said in another post---Tony will be missed by me and many, many others for sure!!!! I have known Tony for several years and have nothing but the best of things to say about him!

REYNOLDS, ANTHONY WAYNE "TONY," 36, of Shepherdsville , KY , died May 29, 2009 . He was the owner of Reynolds Marine, a master mechanic, a director for Trooper Island , past director of the Bullitt County Fair Board and member of the Jeff erson County Sportsmans Club. Tony is survived by his wife, Kim Cahoe Reynolds; his parents, Wayne and Alice Reynolds; one brother, Tim Reynolds (Brandi); his grandparents, James and Daisy Carrier; and nieces, Lauren Reynolds, Courtney and Danielle Robison; and Tyler Smith, thought of as a son; his beloved pets; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mt. Washington , KY , with burial in Hebron Cemetery . Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday with a prayer service held at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trooper Island or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
