Awesome day on Nolin

I have never had a day like this on a big lake.....EVER. We boated over 70 bass yesterday. None of them were huge, my biggest being only 2 1/2lbs, but it was a blast. We had our limit of 15" fish by 8am. I caught two small ones on a crank, the rest were caught on a super fluke. All the fish we caught were in 50+ feet of water, chasing minnows on the surface. By 1:30pm the rain really picked up and forced us off the water. I would have liked to stay all day. I now have a big bag full of fresh fish waiting to be eaten!

Thats great, espically for Nolin. Its really fun getting into them like that, I have caught some nice hybrids doing the same thing, and it's really a blast. Congratulations on a great day!

Seriously, I know that keeping bass is a no-no among tourney fishermen, and I respect their choice. On the flip side, I am not a tourney fisherman, but I do love to fish for bass. The only difference is I like to take a few home to eat. There is nothing better than eating fresh caught fish, and bass is one of my favorites. I would already have a freezer full of crappie if I was a better crappie fisherman. Ha Ha. As far as I can see, I am doing my part by only keeping my legal limit in size and numbers. Big spawning females are released to finish what they started, but I will usually keep a few for the pan. Keeping a bass is no sin my friends.

I'm not picking on you CTFSH, just making a statement about delicious bass

If you want too tell the world you came too the right site(lol)I'm a tournament fisherman and like too eat fish but think bass arn't that great.Walleye are great and i keep them when i catch keepers.White bass are a blast too catch and not bad too eat.Nolin is full of them.I made alot of freinds on this site and if i did eat LM,SM i will not post it.I use this site too make freinds.Have fun.Terry Adolph

I was actually suprised I didn't catch more whitebass yesterday. I only caught one.

The way I look at it, I am on this site to make friends too. But, if someone doesn't want to be my friend just because I eat bass, I don't need to be their friend anyway. I do respect the catch and release guys though. If I am fishing in their boat, and they want all the fish thrown back, it is ok by me.

i was just getting on my uncle fore the same thing i dont like to keep any fish realy. he likes to keep a few and when i am at the lake with him i will let him keep some of the 15in. and smaller to eat. but the last week him and the guy next to him at the house boat have keep over 23 bass all in the 3 pound range or better. and that was between mon. to wed. have not talked to him since i am afraid of how many other nice bass that are killed. dont get me wrong i will eat fish and bass but just a couple here and there but when you start talking about numbers like that and on a weekly baises. that will hert a fish population. keep the 12 to 15 inch bass but not every one just a few leave all the 15 plus bass alone. there are alot of crappie, blue gills, catfish,and walleye to eat. and they are just as good if not better then bass.

just my thoughts on it all.

I Think LM,Sm should all go back and if you want too keep bass keep spots thats why there is no size limit on them.Fisherman make a living on Bass.They used too on walleye but i think they droped that.I have had a bass mounted & a Northern Pike & Burbot.Terry Adolph

Answer me this question:

Do spots count towards your 5 bass limit?

I'd have too look it up but in most tournaments you are alowed 1 slot and the rest have too be 15in.In our club we can bring 6 12in slots too the scale.I think Ky law its 6 on must lakes.Each lake has its own rules.Terry Adolph

It's legal, so if you want to keep bass you have all the right. I fish tournys and will keep a few in the cold weather months. I think all fish taste better out of cold water. Bill Dance was on his show telling people to keep bass. Tournys do not get hurt from this. Probably help!

Here we go again! lol! Same story, different thread. Keep them if you want, don't keep them if you want.....who cares. We are all here because we love the sport of fishing, and that is what is most important.
